I am the Great-granddaughter of Charles William Ganzel, the ballplayer. Charlie was born on June 18, 1862. His father was Johann Christian Carl Ganzel born February 29, 1836 in Dolgen, Mecklenburg-Scherwin, Germany.

Charlie had 6 sons and 2 daughters. Charles, Rupert, Wesley, Lloyd, Gladys, Foster, Alice and John.

His son, Charles, died without children.

I am planning a Ganzel Family Reunion on May 22, 2003 for the 100th Anniversary of the 1st Homerun hit by a New York Yankee. It was hit by John Henry Ganzel, the brother of Charlie Ganzel.
