Hagob Garabedian

I'm looking for the heirs of my Mother's grandfather's brother... His name was Hagop Garabedian or Hakop Karapetian, his brother's (my Mum's grandfather) name was Soghomon (later he had changed his last name to Kirakosyan), their Father's name was Barsegh... Hakob was born in Van (Turkey) before 1885 (as far as I know), he was a famous merchant in Van and had to leave for the USA after 1915 Armenian genocide.
Any information would be very appreciated.

Julia BENDIAN Garabedian, obit , 1924 WI. - 2007 CA.

not related - for your info only

Garabedian, Julia

Julia (nee: Bendian) Garabedian, 83, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the Claremont Manor Assisted Living Lodge. Born May 30, 1924, and raised in Racine Wisconsin, where she lived with her parents, George and Mary Bendian and her older sister, Virginia, until she was married to Jack Garabedian in 1948, all of who have preceded her in death. During World War II, she worked at J.I. Case, in Racine, as did many other Armenian women at that time. She had a wonderful sense of humor and on holidays and special occasions, loved to entertain friends and family. She was admittedly "Daddy's girl," and took after him, as she was kind, gentle, and loving to all in her life. After raising a family of five children, Jack and Julia moved to California in 1967, where she had lived ever since. Julia is survived by her five children: oldest daughter, Candace Vance of Portland Ore.; daughter, Merri Germon and grandson, Nick Germon of Canyon Lake, Calif.; daughter , Susie Camu and grandson, Tim Pacheco of Ontario, Calif.; son, Karl Garabedian and step-grandson, Patrick de Carvalho of Tujunga, Calif.; and youngest son, Jack Garabedian of Miami, Fla. Her nickname,"Ga Ga", given to her by her first grandchild Tim, was used lovingly by her many extended family members. She also left behind many dear and loving friends whom she considered family from the Claremont Manor. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. on Saturday, July 2 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. Julia loved her children and grandchildren very much. She helped us all grow up as individuals and supported us in all our endeavors. We miss her so much and she will always live in our hearts for as long as we live.
Published in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin on 7/24/2007.
Ancesteral research

My name is Bruce Meyer. My Grandparents were named Garboden. My grandfather, Archibald Lee, and his sister, Elsie, came to Pittsburgh from central Indiana in the early 20th century. I had two great uncles, Gus and William, who took Horace greely's advice and went West to Oregon around the same time. A great uncle and great aunt, Minnie and Pete, remained in the Indianapolis area of Indiana. My mother, Ruth, and her brothers, William and Clifton frequently visited our family in Indiana. Aunt Minnie was married to Les Drury, who claimed Souix ancestry. They had three sons, Raymond, Ralph, and Herman. I know little of Uncle Pete and his family. Elsie married John Murphy and had a son, James, and a daughter Elsie Marie. .James was a federal judge in Evergreen, COlorado. He died in the eighties and I believe is survived by a son, a daughter, and his wife. I am afraid that Murphy is the only part of their names that I know. Elsie Marie never married and died in Whitehall outside Pittsburgh, PA in January 1998. My mother died in 1991 havung survived my father by nearly twenty years. Her brother Clifton died in 2000. Richard and William survive as did Clifton's wife, Helen. William and Gus have long been gone but they have many descendents in Oregon, Washington, and California. Gus was a minister and William was a musician. I believe we had relatives from Indiana on the Union side during the civil war. They were in the Cavalry. One officer and one enlisted. I have found records for an enlisted man in the North Carolina Infantry. I know little of him. I am anxious to fill out the history of the garboden'a=s so please E-mail me with any information you have or an address or telephone number at which I may reach you to exchange information. To my knowledge all Garbodens in the United States are related. Hope to hear from you.

So much of what you say sounds so familiar - but with the passing of time, I like Marianne have forgotten many things. Having lived off of Chandler street myself, it is in the right area. And the name Heath rings a bell also as well as Henderson, Nevada. Ask her if she remembers the name Kenny Washwell - he was in the wedding as well. I don't remember but I think Marianne went with me to Montreal, Canada to the Worlds Fair in maybe 1968. I have just moved but perhaps once I unpack and find my pictures, I could take and scan the one I have and email it to you (if I had your email address). My direct email address is sandpipr@netzero.net I wish I could remember more. I will have to call my parents this weekend in Massachusetts and ask them if the remember anymore than I do. All the dates are correct, so that is why I think it has to be the Marianne I am looking for.

Well she worked at the old Table Talk pies. She moved to Henderson, Nevada about 25 years ago. She lived growing up off of Townsend street. Near the Greek church across from Elm Park. Her parents were Arthur and Mary. He father worked an owned George's cafe on Chandler street. She had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She had a son Heath in august of 73. She has been gone so long that she does not remember much. She said the your name sounds familiar. She is due to come back here in September at least that is what she says for now. I wish there was something else I could tell you to make this easier.

The dates are what I remember. My parents were Joe and Ruth and I lived over off of Chandler Street. Does she remember going to a wedding at St. Charles Boromeo Church in June of 1970 and catching the bouquet. I married Will Allaire and moved to Maryland after that. Marianne and I kept in touch for a while after that and when I wrote to het that I had had a son in August of 1973 she wrote back to me and told me she had had a son also. We lost track of each other shortly after that time. I don't even remember where I met her at or knew her from - where did your aunt work while living in Worcester? My street address while in Worcester was Norcross Street. I can't imagine that there are 2 people with this name but maybe I am wrong. I was looking through some old pictures and wanting to locate several old friends and Marianne was one.

My maiden name was Judi Thibeault. I have pictures of Marianne from the wedding. I know she married about a year later and moved away from Worcester. We kept in touch for a while and I know she had a son born in 1973 (the same year my son was born). Please let me know what other information you need that I might be able to come up with. She married the next year and mobed from Massachusetts. She had a son born in 1973. I do not remember what her married name was. Marianne if you are out there, I would love to hear from you.
