Eugene Garaghty was one of the earliest known Propreietors of the grand St. Charles Hotel in Cape Girardeau, MO in 1854. My Husband & I own the site on which the Hotel once stood. I am currently doing research concerning the Hotel and this property. Don't know if this information helps but, in the 1870 Census Mr. Garaghty was listed as 70 yrs. old and b. in Ireland.
