Charles' parents were Thomas Edward Garbutt (born 1822 in Glaisdale, Danby) and Jane Overend (born 1824 in Bentham)
The family lived in Marton near Middlesbrough.
After Thomas died, Jane took her 3 sons to Australia. (John Edward, Charles Overend & Arthur Henry - all boys born in Norton)
Charles returned to England & married Lucy Elizabeth Watson in 1872.
Charles was my g g grandfather & I would love to get some information on his ancestors in England.
I am amazed at how many Garbutts have been mentioned on this message board - not sure how to pinpoint my particular line.
