All those names are in Grave Yards Early 1700 Anne Audural Co MD 1720 Area of Lancaster Pa 1740 Cumberland Co Pa area of what is now Perry Co Toboyne Twp & Centre Twp... Centre
Twp is the location of Fort Robinson 1750 the Ferguson Family took Shelter there apx 1750-1765 as well as my family. Gardner, Ferguson, Robinson were Cumberland Rifleman
under Thompson.. During the Revolution.. Lots of these families came to Cumberland and the Indian's drove them off pre 1767 many families made claim and then left for other settlements that were safer. In the south.. Some left some stayed some left and came back, some stayed while sending others to safer areas. Cumberland Rifleman received land warrants in the area of Ferguson Twp, Centre Co, area of Bellefonte Pa in 1790 but many also took claim of land seized from English Tories in the south that was also available for settlement. It is thought my William and John 1760 land claims were
for service in the French and Indian War. William Gardner wounded at Ft Necessity.
with Colonel George Washington.
Hope this helps please feel free to contact with any questions gardnerflorida@gmail.com
At the moment all I have is a John Gardiner and his wife Elizabeth nee ??. They had three children, William Gardener b.1821c, Henry Gardener b.1823c and George Gardner b.1832c. Then it is the children of George Gardner and Mary Ann Butler, the majority of these were born around Kingsclere, Hamps. In the 1861 census, John and his family were living in Wootton St Lawrence. By the 1871 census George and Mary were living in Tadley, where they stayed.
Selina.

I have quite a few George GARDENERs (a dozen or more!) in my family tree. My Dad's side of our family came from Egham, Surrey but before that from East Worldham or Holyborne, Hampshire mainly.

I also have a few John's but none of the dates to the two names match yours. The one BUTLER name I have is from another area so unlikely, but the GARDENER name may match with more research.
Where in Hampshire? Do you have other names besides George?

Thanks!
Susan.

There is a family legend that Lord Delaware is an ancestor of the Gardners of Virginia. The oldest we have identified are Delaware Ballard Gardner (b 1863)and his father, John Dubuque Gardner (b 1833). Does anyone have any substantiation of this legend?

He is listed as a nephew in the 1900 Census for Missouri, Buchanan Co., St. Joseph City in the family of John A Martin (wife's maiden name is Hartnoll). We believe he and his wife (?) adopted Dixie Martin (John A Martin's youngest daughter) around 1906.
Also listed as a nephew is Thos H Rundle. Both Rundle and Gardener say they were born in Illinois.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!
Are you talking Gardener or Gradener?
My grt grandmother was a Clara Rosina Gardener born 1859 or there abouts at Bethnal Green. Hornsey, Middlesex.
Her parents were George and Sarah Gardener, but I have
no maiden name for Sarah. I have an address of 16 Bartholomew Terrace, he apprently worked on the railways in England as a Porter and a Time Keeper.
Clara married Henry Lewis Moore, but when I search his name I can only get a Henry Louise Moore, I am told it has probably been transcribed wrongly.
We are now living in Perth, Western Australia.

I have not been able to find anything else on Isaac. However, there is an Isaac Gardner from Calvert County, MD., born 1756. But he died in Indiana, and that seems unlikely for Abner's father.

William Gardner Family in Navarro Co., TX 1910 Census

The William Gardner family lived in Navarro County, Texas in 1910. I have a copy of the census for that year. This census shows that there was a baby named, Anna Mae Wood (relation ?) in the Gardner home at the time. I cannot locate information on how/if the Gardner and Wood family were related. Anna Mae's Mother, Anna Cora 'Houston' Wood, wife of Elbert Malachiah Wood, had died. In doing the research on my Wood family, I am trying to find the relationship between the Wood and Gardner families. If you know something about this, please contact me, Marge 'Wood' Israel at: margeisrael@aol.com

Thank you.

Names in family bible - from ?Keady

I have an old family bible which contains the name of John ?Hay(n)es Gardener of ?Keady (where is Keady?) and dated Dec 1853

There is also a Maggie Cooke, daughter of John Cooke, listed on as having died on 21 June 1875 and buried on 23rd, but no place is given. The name Margaret Cooke also appears on two other pages, and I am assuming this is an adult, judging from the handwriting.

The bible has come into my family (Wildes) through a Cooke/Wildes marriage, but I know nothing about the people shown and would be delighted if anyone can shed any light on this.

Regards

Andrea

Benjamin Gardner b. abt 1720 Boston, resided in Salem, Massachusetts

I am searching for the ancestry/family of my 6x great grandfather Benjamin Gardner. The records say he was "of Boston" and married there Sarah Randall on 10 Oct 1751 at the West Church. Some transcriptions of this record state her name as Sarah Kendall. She was the daughter of Stephen Randall and Sarah Cannon, of whom I know nothing. She died 1781 in Salem. He also married Mary Briers on 02 Nov 1782 in Salem. The record states "former husbands were Ferguson and Bassett". His two daughters Mary d. Bef. 1792 and Sarah b. Abt. 1755 both married Abijah Hitchings in Salem. There was also at least one son, Benjamin b. 19 Dec 1753 in Boston, who probably married Hannah Meek on 01 Jun 1783 in Salem. Father Benjamin Gardner lived in Boston, Marblehead and Salem and was a ropemaker with Josiah Gaines.

This family is mentioned in the famous 3 volume diary of Rev. William Bentley D.D. of Salem, Pastor of the East Church. The Rev. Bentley calls him a "great friend" and mentions him on dozens of pages, and describes his wife and children, as well as the Hitchings in the next generation. The vital records in Salem do not give any clues to his parentage. The Bentley diary mentions a Gardner brother dying in Boston 27 sep 1789.

Re: Gardener Family

Hi,

I was interested by the Hitcham name in your query. Hitcham is my main interest but I do have a few notes on the family of Louisa Hitcham that may interest you.

She married Simeon Samuel Gardener 26 Sep 1868. Samuel was killed on 17 June 1869 when the Hounslow Gunpowder Mill exploded. The force of the explosion also affected their cottage and Louisa was blown across the room. Their only child Simeon Samuel Gardener was born crippled as a result.

Walter Tom Gardener was probably a relative of her first husband as he was a witness at their wedding. Walter is said to have met Louisa as it was part of his job to deliver the widows pensions from the Powder Mills explosion. Walter & his father both worked at the same mill on Hounslow Heath as her first husband Samuel.

You appear to have the Census up to 1891. In 1901 they were still living in Merton RG13/656 f.98 p.26. The Ancestry index shows him as Wm Garding.

I also have details of the children of Walter & Louisa if you are interested.
