Try looking under the spellings of Gordinier, Gordineer, Gaudinier. I have been in contact with a person from the N.Y. area who is descended from a Charles Gordinier. These are all different spellings but one family if you look closely. Most of the time Census takers spelled the name how it sounded.
and with all of the different accents it is no wonder there are so many spellings. The family also includes Gardners, Gardiner, and so on. This family has been able to trace the line back to William the Conquerer who was the Great Grandson of William th Longsword. Hope this helps. My Great Grandfather ( Theodore Gordineer )had a brother named
Charles. I don't have Dates for them but My Grandfather ( John ) was born 1912. I would put Charles and Theodore around the mid 1800's as being born.
