Try searching under the spelling of Gordinier. I have a james ( or Jimmy) Gordineer from the Peekskill / Cortland area of New York that would fall into this time frame approx. This family is well researched. There is info in the library and Historical Society of westchester on them. Do you have any other info on James ? other variations of the family name include Gordineer (my line) Gaudinier, Gordinier, Gardiner, Gardner, Gardin, Jardin and so on. The name changes with pronounciation, It was spelled how it sounded. Therefor the many names of one family. This family can trace the name back as far as William the Conquerer, who was the great Grandson of william the longsword
