Can anyone help with the George Gardin m. Lois/Loas Hicks 12-22-1844 family? He would have been born about 1820.
Per on line sources, Gerhard Georg Gerding is the originator of the McDowell Co Gardins.
The 1850 census lists: George Garden Jr 30, Louis (wife) 30, John W 4, and Daniel A. 1.
The 1860 census lists: George Gardin 39, Louisa 37, Daniel 12, Elmira 11, Caroline 7, Sarah 4, and Margaret 10 mos.
Cannot find this family in the 1870 census.
1880 census: Finley township; George Garden 60, Louis 60, Sarah 22, Alberta 28 (male), Elmira Weaver 26, Eller Weaver 8, and Sarah Weaver 6. Elmira Gardin m. James C. Weaver 4-4-1871 and he had died by the 1880 census.

Who is the father of the above George Gardin? Was it John b. 1796, George b. 1798, Henry b. 1800, Daniel b. 1802, George b. 1804, or Lewis b. 1806? These six are the sons of the original Gerhard Gerding. The 1850 census lists George as a junior, but the George Gardin b. 1804 son m. Eliza Corpening.

I descend from Alberto Gardin, whom I believe is the Daniel A./Alberta Gardin listed above as a child of George Gardin and Lois Hicks.
