I also come down from Hannah Garis and Peter Hess. I know from the Springfield KB, Bucks County, PA that there were several Gehres, Geres, Gares, Garres, Garis families in that church. Hannah Garis was the daughter of Christian and Maria (Christian born 11 Sept 1793) and Christian's parents were Philip and Magdalena Gehres (all are mentioned in the baptisim of Hannah). I have not been able to connect Hannah with the Gehreses that came over in 1739 and 1742 from Lichtenberg and attended the same church in Bucks County, PA.

On the Hess family Peter was born 15 Apr 1820 son of Henry and Anna Maria in PA according to the census and his death certificate. The family must have moved to Warren County in the early 1820 because his death certificate states he was born in Mount Bethel, PA and lived all his life in NJ. It also has his mother's (Anna Maria)last name as something other than Baker but I can't make it out. We got the last name of Baker from The Nicholas Hess Book compiled by Asher L. Hess which has our branch of the family listed on page 77 in small print starting with John Hess who was also a son of Henry and Anna Maria Hess. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have information on the ancestors of Henry Hess and/or Philip Gehres.
