Classification: Query
Surnames: Collins Jones Barbee Garland Woods Wallace
about which exact Thomas Collins married Abigail Barbee
Virginia Hanks 908 E. Seattle Ave, Ellensburg WA 98926-3917 has
35 years of Collins data on paper family sheets. But she's 85 and
doesn't do computers; so I am putting a little of that on
http://wc.rootsweb.com
I haven't computerized many of her documentary sources yet. But
you might want to write to her about how different her compilation
looks from yours. My preliminary summary of hers at:
This is Mrs. Hanks' ancestry of which groom named Thomas Collins
md Abigail Barbee
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-
bin/igm.cgi?op=AHN&db=townsendthos&id=I2721
and for completeness, This is Mrs. Hanks' ancestry of which groom
named Thomas Collins md. Elizabeth Barbee:
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-
bin/igm.cgi?op=AHN&db=townsendthos&id=I2497
And her compilation of the wives of the son Thomas Collins, son of
above Elizabeth Barbee and Thomas Collins--i.e. That son is the
Thomas Collins sometimes compiled as the husband of Abigail
Barbee, but for whom Mrs. Hanks compiles the first wife as (instead)
named Nancy (or Ann) Garland, daughter of James Garland and
Mary Bice, who died 1781 in Abermarle Co VA, after which death
that Thomas Collins md Susannah Wallace 1782 there in Abermarle
Co VA

So far on database townsendthos at http://wc.rootsweb.com
I've only had time to post general summaries of Mrs. Hanks'
documentary sources.
I'll try to list some more specific documents here, but I'm only a data
entry person; so you'd find out much more by writing to Virginia
Hanks 908 E. Seattle Ave, Ellensburg WA 98926-3917 :
Her specific SOURCE (1):
page 112 of newletter "Calling All Collins-Collings" Second Quarter
1994 where Sue Nite Raguzin begins: "Barbee Collins (4 Jan 1774 -
15 jun 1843) was born in Albemarle Co VA and died in Franklin Co.
TN, buried in Keith Family Cem., on Bean's Crk., Franklin Co. TN. His
parents were Thomas Collins II and his first wife Nancy Ann 'Abby'
Garland. Barbee [Collins] was married 24 Jun 1795 Madison Co. KY
to Mary Woods..." two of Barbee Collin's children are compiled as
having middle names Garland.
---------------------------------
Her specific source (2): Spotsylvania County Records by Crozier
[see below for perhaps a more accurate citation]. I happened to
xerox page 192 of that book but that isn't probably the most relevant
page.

Everett/Everette Brockman page 32 onward. and 2 other Orange Co.
VA books by same author.
----------------------------------------------

that era by Sally Black, PO Box 633(also says 639 but not in Sally's
