Yes, I have Terrence in my database, but I have him as the youngest of 16 children. Terrence was the son of John Henry Garmonsway born 1902 who was the son of John Henry Garmonsway born 1865 who was the son of John Henry Garmonsway born 1835.

My ancestor was Caroline Rogers (nee Garmonsway) who was a sister to John Henry Garmonsway born 1835. Jill, who administers this board is also from the John Henry Garmonsway branch along with Allan Garmonsway who lives in England. Allan is an uncle of yours I believe.

I'll contact you separately, as I'm interested in confirming details on Terrence's children which I have.

Julie

Yes, we are always looking for more data on the families. Which group do you connect into. I've been compiling data for over 25 years and I thought our New Zealand Garmonsway line, which connects to the English one from Yarm, was the biggest. I'll be interested in knowing which is your line.

Julie (Fox)

I have discovered that Albert G. Hill of Lee Co., MS married Harriet Garmon on 14 March 1872. I believe she was a daughter of Rowan. The two families, Hill and Garmon lived near each other in Pontotoc Co. in 1860. I found Albert & Harriet and 3 children in Lee Co, 1880. Do you have further information on this family?

Hi Norma,

I believe William Adam Garmon to be the Adam you listed in the initial Query as a child of Joe H. Much of what I have is from census records. The 1930 census lists Adell as 11 years old and a daughter of Joe H! Thanks for straightening me out.

The Samuel Garmon (b c1798 to 1864) and Elizabeth (Betsy) Chambers (B c1802 to after 1860) where the Grandparents of "Pegleg" Samuel Adam Garmon. Sam had a peg for a foot as a result of an accident as a baby.

I am in the process of reviewing Garmons in the US Census as I've subscribed to the Ancestry Census information. I also recently have gotten the name of an 87 year old niece of Joe H who lives near Burkesville and hope to contact her soon. She was raised by "Pegleg" after the death of her father Alfred G Garmon in 1928.

If you send me your email address to me at rsouth@cableone.net I can send more details.

Bob

Interested in any information that could help me find parents and siblings of my ggg grandmother, Margaret GARMON, b. bet. 1774 and 1784 (according to census), Pennsylvania. James L., b. 1803
3. Elizabeth, b. c1806
4. Nancy R., b. 1808
5. William Austin (Jr.), b. 1809
6. Delilah, b. c1812 (Possible daughter)
7. Jehu Harrison, b. 1813
8. John Lewis, b. 1815 (my gg grandfather)
9. George Washington, b. 1817

I'd appreciate any input or advice on the GARMON line that might help me determine Margaret's connection to the line. Thanks very much.
Brenda

My Garmon family moved from Carrabus County, NC, in the 1840s and 1850s and settled in Pontotoc and Lee Counties in the northeastern part of the state. The first four heads of families to come were Michael W. Garmon, John Harkey Garmon, John Stunhope Garmon, and Rowan Garmon (from whom I descend). They all settled along the Natchez trace as it was being settled after the indians ceded the land to the U. S. Government. As you can imagine all four of these had many sons and daughters.

I have also seen some Garmons in the census records also located in Tishamingo county that apparently dropped down from Tennessee. There were also a couple of families from Georgia that were headed by women later on.

Can you give me any information on Otis and Ed such as birth dates, death dates, who they married, etc.? Maybe I can help you trace them. Please feel free to e-mail me at ogarmon@mindspring.com.

With warm regards, Dockie.
