Marty: My family owns a ranch in Converse County, Wyoming. There are two streams on the ranch -- Hunton Creek, named for John Hunton, employer and erstwhile hunting companion of "Little Bat" Garnier, and "Batt's Creek," named for Baptiste Garnier. As I reach the twilight years of my life I have developed an interest in the history of this area. I wonder why the small stream, in its own lovely little valley, is named for Baptiste Garnier. There is no record of him ever having homesteaded there, but I wonder if it wasn't perhaps his favorite little valley or a place where he had a permanent camp. I would be ever so grateful to have a copy of your manuscript. I will pay all copying and shipping charges. Thank you! Hugh Duncan
