HI, I found this on a search of the Garrels of Lake Veiw, Iowa. Yes, I did spell Anna Auen's maiden name wrong, sorry.

I want to contact the Garrels families in Lake View. All of my Garrels family are gone, except for those living here in Oregon. I also noticed on my uncles death certificate, the signature was Auen.

Would love to hear more about Herman and family. Us kids ended up in an orphanage in Iowa (1940's). My mother, Henieretta Hagge died two weeks after my youngest brother was born in 1937. Didn't know much of the family. I do know John and Ethel, Clarence, did not know Francis, George. My phone number is: 757 458-1151 if you want to talk.

German Garrels

I just found my gt gt Grandmother, Gertrud von Garrel who married Martin Feldhaus in abt 1836. She was listed with Martin in the Haselunne, Emsland, Hannover, Germany census records. I had seen her name listed here in the US as von Gauley and Greati, but I believe the German records. Anyway, I wondered if she was from nobility with the "von" in her name. I was told by a German gentleman, that perhaps she was from Garrel Germany. Could be a clue if your Garrels were German. If you go to http://www.angelfire.com/ma/blaueslicht/page8.html
you will find an aerial view of Garrel.
Hope this will help someone else.
Judy

The photo I have has the names .
Herman lived in Lake View , Iowa. A daughter the called Bene( Wobina), Earl, Charles, William, John, Frances, (Male) George. These are the ones I met as child. I will ask my father, not sure how much he can help as he had a stroke 2years ago and has lost some memory. I will get back to as soon as I find the rest of those names. Beverly
Ps. I see you spelled Anna's name Owen, are you sure of the spelling.
William Garrels

The SS Death Index show a William Garrels who died
in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon. I am sure that he was
my grandmother's second husband. They had no children by
that marriage.

If this is someone you know about, I would like
to have any information that would help me in my search
for historical info on his wife's side. She was Esther
Victoria Anderson from Iowa.
