Hi! My full name is Joseph Lloyd Garrett, and I'm the son of Joseph Edward through his second marriage to Emily Perry.

About 15 years ago, I met Bill, Jack and Joan for the first time. Maybe we're related?

What else would you want to know about my father.

Best, Joe
I have been told that my grandmother was a full blooded Black Foot Indian , but that is the only information I have .

If anyone has any information they would like to share or know how I can get information on my grandmothers side of the family , please contact me either on here or send me a email at mjrip06@hotmail.com .
Hi Letha,
Sorry it took so long to respond. Honestly, I forgot to check the file. Now, about me: I am a product of Jerry Garret. He was my grand, grand, grand grandfather. His son, Elijah Garret, was my grand, grand, grandfather. At one period, Elijah had his sons(Eli Richardson and William Denman living with him also along with Georgina, his daughter). Their mother's name Angela Denman and later she lived with Jacob Hall. Jacob worked for Jerry Garret and he and Angela lived together. Both were from Mississippi. I have spent two years trying to find the names of Jerry's mother and father in North Carolina and are just now starting to study those grandkids who lived with him during that period. I can tell you all about Elijah and Jerry and their lives in Louisiana but I have not studied your folks further. Here is my work email-sheryl.ward@aa.com. At some period, I will have to send our Family Booklet to you

Looking for info on my grandfather John Watley Garrett, born abt 1884 in Mississippi, died 1919 while working for RR in Marion County, MS. He married Amarella Sojourner of Hopewell or Georgetown, MS.

They had at least 6 children, only 4 lived to adulthood. My mother was one of the 4. Her name Myra Garrett. She died in 1938 after the birth of third child. As far as I know she went to school in Crystal Springs, MS.

I hope someone out there knows some info. My sister and I can't find who his parents were or where he was born. I found him on the 1910 census and WWI draft.

His mother might have been a Pierce.

Thank you, if you can help or give me some leads.

Hey Connie,
Someone had forwarded me a posting from Bertha's daughter a couple of years ago. I had tried to e-mail her several times, and couldn't ever get it to go through. She said she was your cousin. I am hoping you know how to get in touch with her. My husband is a Garrett, and I had checked ancestry for the info. that she had listed. I found a John Garrett, in Walker County, GA. in 1920. He had a daughter, Bertha L. age 5 yrs. His much younger wife was Ellen. Let me know if you think if this could be a connection for you & your cousin. I'll help however I can.

Re: Jacob Garrett, b. 1770's in Buckingham Co, VA

Because I saw your New Jersey reference, I will add that a Jacob Garrett appears in the 1800 Census south of Millville, NJ in Downe Township, Cumberland County. He is next to my ancestor Jehu Parsons, and near an Abraham Rodgers. There was also a Thomas Stone selling a business in Millville in 1806, though I haven't checked him for other years. NJ's Census for 1810 and 1820 were lost, and then Jacob Garrett does not appear in the 1830. In 1834, however, a Daniel "Garoet" or "Garet" files a legal paper claiming to be an heir of our Jehu.
Re: Elmer Garrett / Grenier

I happened to grow up in St. Alphonsus parish.

St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church is located in Glens Falls, Warren County, NY 12801. The address is 4 Crandall St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

The City of Glens Falls is located within the Township of Queensbury.

The Cemetery is located on the corner of Luzerne Road & Pine St., in West Glens Falls (a village in the township of Queensbury).

The parish website is http://www.capital.net/~stals/Parish%20Directory.htm

It includes phone numbers, and the name of the cemetery caretaker.

The cemetery is very small, and I have not found any available indexes of it. However, it is and was a very tight-knit parish. (It was created specifically to serve the French-Canadian community, which was very insular. Even in my generation, we were taught to think of ourselves as French, not "de engilish".) There is a school associated with the church. Prior to the middle of the 20th century, the majority of the parisshioners sent their children to the school, so they could learn English.

I know I have seen the name Dube in the cemetery there... and the same surnames tend to repeat over & over. My husband was shocked at how much this is true when we flew back last October. He complained I was related to half the people there!

I'm sure if you contact the parish, they'd be happy to provide records, and may have far more than you're expecting!

I would offer to get records for you myself, but I'm in CA, and I don't expect to be going back any time soon.

Good luck with your search!

I am looking for information about Jerry Garret and two of his grandchildren (William and Georgina Denman). In the 1880 census William and Georgina were listed with Jerry and his wife Esther. In 1894 or 96, Georgina married my great-great uncle Norman Granberry in Memphis, TN. I have a list of their offsprings, but I cannot find Georgina listed anywhere passed 1930. I'm not for sure if she moved back to Louisiana with the children. Also, I would like information on how or why she came to Tennessee.

Letha Granberry
