I will check the Hudson County clerk's office. I got the info about the fire from the Trenton people.
Catherine was born in 1849. I can't assume that she was the first. Due to Sarah's age in 1850, I'd place the marriage around 1843 to 1848.
Religion is tough. My mother's side of the family has a lot of unexplained things. According to my mother, her parents were Catholic, but her mother sang in an Episcolpalian choir in NYC and the family was ex-communicated because they were too poor to be buried in consegrated ground. They are buried in a Methodist cemetery and my mother was a Presbyterian.
Sarah was born in NJ as well as her parents. Her husband was born in New York State. I don't know how he came to NJ or why, but in the next census I believe they are in NYC and stay there until his death in 1888, then Sarah moves in with her other daughter back to Jersey City/Hoboken where she dies in 1903. My father's side of the family is a piece of cake compared to my mother's.
