It's always been a curiousity to me how the Gerritsen/Garritsen families moved from NY>NJ>southern states:ie.TN, TX, etc.
My 8th great grandmother m. 1st Willem Gerritsen and 2nd Gerrit Remmersen. It was through a bible kept by a son from 2nd marriage that the NYG&B Society was able to publish much of her early families history.

I have some data transcribed by David Tourism from his library of "old books" that include the surnames Gerritse/Gerritsen/Garrison/Garretson, etc.
