Thanks for getting back.......I agree and believe that the first name "Reed" came from a maternal line.

With the common places (NJ, Virginia, Ohio, ILL and IN), and, the first name "Reed" appearing in two generations (i.e. Reed GARRETSON b.1791 NJ and his son also with that name born abt 1830 Ohio), plus, the Reed GARRETSON born abt 1817 Ohio who married Emeline BRADFORD I think it is likely that who ever was the mother of Reed GARRETSON born 1791 NJ was also likely the grandmother of Reed GARRETSON born 1817 Ohio.
