Donald Gene Garst, Sr., 55, Topeka, died Friday, Dec. 30, 1994, in the emergency room at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Garst was a foreman for the City of Topeka Water Pollution Control.
He was born Nov. 4, 1939 in Chester, Neb., the son of Lafe Frank Sr. and Alice Lavina Kendall Garst. He had lived in Glasco and Delphos as a child.
Mr. Garst attended the Oakland Christian Church.
He was married to Marcia R. Root Patterson. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Don G. Garst, Scott J. Garst and Perry A. Patterson, all of Topeka; four daughters, Robin A. Garst, Lori L. Foster and Theresa A. Matavosky, all of Topeka, and Cheri J. Bennett, Garnett; three sisters, Mary K. Tachner, Burlington, Wisc.; and Anna B. Scofield and Letha M. Griffiths, both of Topeka; six brothers, Lafe F. Garst, Jr.; Burton Garst, Fred Garst, Paul Garst and Glen Garst, all of Topeka; and Alvin Garst, Wichita, and 16 grandchildren.
Mr. Garst was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alisha Patterson, Jan. 14, 1985.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Garst will lie in state after 3 p.m. Monday at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donald G. Garst Sr. Memorial Fund, sent in care of Capital City Bank, 2400 N.E. Seward, Topeka, 66616.
