Johnny Garst Killed in Transport Accident
John Garst, 24, transport truck driver was killed Sunday in an accident in Iowa, the tank truck catching on fire and Garst was burned. The Sun was unable to secure details of the accident before going to press. Funeral services were held at Delphos Wednesday afternoon. A brother, Eddie Garst and his grandmother live in Glasco. He is survived by his widow, the couple having been married but a short time.

John Franklin Garst, son of Pearl and Josephine Garst, was born at Glasco, Kansas, on Feb. 24, 1919, and departed this life at Woodbine, Iowa, on Feb. 21, 1943.
He was united in marriage to Darlene Rose on Oct. 31, 1942, and they made their home at Chester, Nebr.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Garst of California. His mother preceded him in death when he was an infant. He also leaves to mourn, his brother, Edward Garst, of Glasco, Kansas; three half-brothers, Wesley Garst of the United States Naval Air Force somewhere in the Southwest pacific, Frankie and Tillman Garst of the home in California; a devoted step-brother, Burton Thompson, who is with the United States Armed Forces in Alaska; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary E. Garst of Glasco, Kansas, who reared him from the time of his mother's death; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary E. Marcy of Glasco, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church at Delphos, Wednesday, Feb. 24, the birthday of the deceased young man, the Rev. H.G. Feldmann, pastor of the Methodist church in charge. Interment was in the Delphos cemetery.
