Edward (Ed) Gartner, 90, of North East, Pa.
passed away Friday June 5, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center. He was born on September 8, 1918 in North East, Pa. a son of the late John and Regina Eckerdt Gartner. Ed worked at Erie General Electric Co. for 39 years, retiring as Foreman in 1980. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North East pa,,
Ed served his country during WWII as a Staff Sgt. with the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was preceded in death by one brother, Fritz Gartner. Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Gartner, whom he married December 27, 1945, two sons, John Gartner of Centreville, Md. and Larry Gartner and his wife Nadia of Austin, Texas, two daughters, Kathleen Laakso of Stow, Ohio and Lorrie Knight of Seabrook, Texas. Also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North East, Pa. Rev. David Kuchta will officiate. Interment will be in North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 Clinton St., North East, PA 16428, Vision and Blindness Resources, 2402 Cherry St., Erie, PA 16502 or to the Community Nursing Services of North East, 7 Park St., North East, PA 16428. Hi,

Thanks for the info on Charles. I never knew his wife's maiden name. All I knew that her name was Bertha V.

His brother Harry also married a lady whose name was also Bertha.

His other brother John Wm, my grandfather, married Gertrude Veronica Cahill.

If you have any info on the parents of Chas Sr. please let me know.

I have pictures of the Gartners and the Keims that I will gladly share. I also know where they are buried.

I am hoping that someone has information on John Gartner born in 1830 in Trieste Austria and died in 1895 in Victoria Australia.
He married Eliza Annie McKenzie I assume somewhere in England prior to coming to Australia, although it is possible they were married here.
Family history seems to be that the name of the family was originally Gartieri.
Any information would be appreciated

Hello, George Gartner, 1875, was the father to my grandfather. George married Barbara Heim. George's father was John Gartner. I think that it is all intertwined.
I have a huge family tree that I have been working on, and would be glad to share any information that I have gathered and worked on, as well as enjoying any you may have. I am a 39 year old grandson of Thomas D. Gartner. He was, and most of the Gartner family, everything to me. I have researched the family for quite some time with birthdates, places, etc...
George was born in pfeifer, Russia in 1875 to Jonh Gartner and Katherina Kollman. Hammelburg, Reith, OberThulba, Thulba, Weiperz, Frankenbrunn.

The families they intermarried with include:

Schaefer, Reuss, Voell, Markart, Brandenstein.

Do you think Sebastian Stein the 25 year old shoemaker was an apprentice to one of the Gartner family members? Could he have been an indentured servant or a boarder in the home? How far back do the Hamilton County Records go?

Looks like the STEIN and STINE surnames were almost interchangeable, possibly due to how the census taker wrote/spelled it?

What are your thoughts on the 1850 census that you found even with the slight variation of the age compared to the years following?

Sorry I can't give any exact dates about Arthur. My father was born in 1914, so I estimate Arthur (his half-brother) to be born anywhere between 1910 and 1920. My Dad's (I presume Arthur's, too) father was Johann (born 1866 in London). Johann's parents were Christian Heinrich Gartner - born 2 July 1866, and Anna Christina (nee Bohling) - born 1844. They both died in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. I have no info at all on Arthur. Hoping you can give me some information.

I am looking for ancestors of Arthur Gartner who was a Brigadier Guard in London. He was my Dad's half brother and came from the line of Hannah (nee Bohling) and Christian Gartner. I have a Margaret L. Gartner, born in NE in 1918, married to a Dunford. Is this any relation? Her parents were William Gustave and Josephine (O'Brien) Gartner.
