Hello Brenda, 7 years late but hope you read this!

My great-grandmother was Alice Gartside (b.1884, Chorley), a daughter of John Henry Gartside and Ann Kearney.
John Henry is described as a Painter on Alice's birth certificate and I believe is an elder son of your Samuel Gartside. I already have quite a lot of info about the Gartside's from LancBMD, Online Parish Clerk and "Samuel's Chorley" but it'd be great to be in touch with someone else looking at the family + it was a message of yours that I came across when I started looking into the family that really helped.
