James Garvie, had an older brother. When the massacre happened they (mother and children) fled to Canada. Once there the mother ( I believe her name was Going-Towards) let the oldest boy go with a Canadian family on the premis that he be brought back when they were going back to the Dakotas. This was documented in James Garvies' hand written accounts.
