Hi there
Sorry you did not give name.
Suffren name (inc 'ern 'erin etc) date back to the mid 1600's in County Antrim in Ireland. Pierre Andre (1729 - 1788)came along long after the Irish Branch had left France. The New Brunswick ones did come from South Antrim / South Londonderry area of Ireland and that is a fact proven. Most of the USA Suffrens came from the same area as did those in South America, proven fact.
The reference to Jules Arnault is attributed to Cathryn Suffern from Tennesee a decendant from the Sufffern family of the town of Suffern in USA.
Despite extensive research there is no documentary evidence existing which proves the link between Ireland and France.
Sorry this might not answer your queries but if you wish to correspond with me please do so. nsufferin@aol.com
Thanks
