Virginia L. Gary, 86, of Conneaut,
died Monday April 2, 2012
at Lake Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Conneaut.
She was born July 17, 1925, in West Springfield, Pa., and was the daughter of William (Doc) and Iva (Lyntz) Wright. Virginia had worked for Hercules and then also for Brown Memorial Hospital in the dietary department. After her retirement from the hospital, Virginia continued volunteering in the hospital gift shop and also the 50/50 shop. She and her husband Paul, whom she married on June 2, 1948, at West Springfield United Methodist Church, had owned and operated the Electrik Maid Bakery for over 15 years. She was a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church, and the Conneaut Mothers Club. In the past, Virginia had been a 4-H advisor. She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and was an avid reader. Survivors include her son Lance (Martha) Gary, of North Olmsted, Ohio; two daughters, Dr. Heather Kantola of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Lark (Al) Yonkovitz of Peachtree City, Ga.; five grandchildren, Ryan Gary of Camp Verde, Ariz., Darci (Matt) Sather of Fairview Park, Ohio. Alexis (Joel) Kessler of Spanish Fort, Ala., and Trilby and Kacey Yonkovitz of Peachtree City, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Joel and Hayden Kessler, and Dylan and Maxx Sather; and her sister Sylvia Crane of Cranesville, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul Gary; and her sister Esther Whitney. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Rev. Jan Walsh of New Leaf United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, Pa. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, April 5, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to the New Leaf United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
