History of the name "Thomas Gascoigne"

Hello all,
My name is Thomas Gregory Gascoigne V (The fifth). In the little reading I have done it seems a one Thomas Gascoigne and his son Thomas Gascoigne II were more or less trouble makers back in the day. I am trying to find out if the passing of my name is because of something this man started or just a strange coincidence. Any information would be great. I believe that Thomas G. Gascoigne the II (my g g grandfather) was born in NY and then moved to CA and on to AZ. If my logic is close he mave have been born around 1915-1920. Thank you for your help.
