Dear Pam, It was great to hear from you so soon. I just told one of my younger sisters that it may take a couple of months to get a reply. I had thought that perhaps you had given up on finding any information. My mother says that there was also a Sylvia. She and my father went to visit her in Webster in 1949 and then just lost touch. She started having babies (10) and got caught up in the daily routine. She says that she thinks Sylvia lived very close to Lake Erie. She remembers walking there with my dad. She also remembered that Pearl had married an August Mintz. She says that her grandfather, Harold's mother, smoked a pipe. She remembers going to Charles' house and them having electricity. She recalls one of the men in the family being an excellent violin player. My e-mail address is MDS1959@email.msn.com
I also am new to this, since December. I have the same problem trying to figure out where I have just been, and how to get back. I am 41 years old and have 2 children. My husband sells steel. We live in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is where my grandfather, Harold, met my grandmother, Virginia Bickett. He "supposedly" was a traveling salesman. My grandmother has been so hush, hush, about him. She says that she met John Dillinger through him. He seems to have been a shady character because he changed his name to John Carrell when my mother was a small child. My mother has no record of a birth certificate because my grandmother says that she was born in a room with a broken window and a midwife. Kind of Scary. Would appreciate any information on "grandpa". Please keep in touch. Write soon!
