Hi Duncan,

I've spoken with my mum who had already done some research on the Gastineaus. She sent me a lot of info which includes Henry Gastineau. Send me your email address and i'll forward you it accross. If you prefer send me it to my personal email which is wrightdubai@hotmail.com

When i checked out Rise in Yorkshire it again is only about 6-8 miles from Hull. I now think this was just a big coincidence. My mum seems to think the Gastineau side of the family were late movers across to England as my Grans Grandad was a French 'Tinker' (pot & pan repairer/seller) from the Normandy area. Apparently he had property there which my gran was sent a letter about when my dad was young. It stated she was the rightful owner to 2 shops he owned. She never bothered to claim them (why I'll never know!)

Best Regards

Craig Wright

Hi Craig,

Of the three Ann(e) Gastineaus in my records, only one is a possibility and she was born 1822 and died sometime after 1901. She married Arthur Hills and sometime in the 1860s moved to Handsworth, which is not far from Birmingham. I've no one called Reynolds, nor James Gastineau in my records.

Kind regards
Duncan

Just noticed that our Ann Gastineau had a brother called James. He died in approx 1851 in Clerkenwell... approx 6 miles from Camberwell in London.

Looks promising!

Regards

Craig

Hi Duncan,

I'm trying to trace my family history and currently following the Gastineau line. It goes cold at Ann Gastineau.

My mum seems to think she was born some time around 1804 and possibly near to Birmingham. My famlily are from East Yorkshire so there may be a link there too.

She married a Daniel Reynolds.

my email is wrightdubai@hotmail.com

Best Regards

Craig Wright

Looking for the PRICE that's RIGHT ! Burial locations for James Price and his son, James, Jr.???

I am trying to locate burial sites for 2 James Price's [a Jr. + a Sr.] James Price, Jr. m. 23 Feb 1822 to Susannah Gastineau, d/o Job Gastineau, Jr.

Now that Jeff Crouch has nailed the Gastineau-Hubble Cemetery location, I am looking in the same vicinity for my Price's.

The cemetery on the attachment is labeled "PRICE Cemetery" on TopoZone. Has anyone inventoried it? It is on Bull Run/Gastineau Road west of the Hwy 39 Intersection [It is north of where Price Road/Fletcher Road connects to Hwy 39.]

Can anyone tell me where in the Pulaski Co., KY Historical Society Cemetery Books, I can find the inventory for this particular "PRICE" Cemetery? I am pretty sure it is NOT the "Price Farm Cem." on p 367 of Vol. I.

Any help appreciated,
Sally Randol-Hardy in Alabama

Ida Gastineau or Gastideau

Hi, I'm new here. My father always believed his grandmother Ida's maiden name was Gastideau, but I can't find anything, not even wrong hits, for such a name; I've got friends searching rootsweb and geneanet.com and we still can't find it. I'm wondering if it's Gastineau; at least that's a real last name!

Ida was born about 1886 in France, arrived in the US in 1893, married Louis Vallere around 1900, had 3 children (Marius, Dolores and Harold). She lived all her life in Kingston, PA, until her death in 1976. If anyone has any info on such a person please, please advise!

Thank you,

Donna

Her birthday was 8-1-1839 in Valley Oaks, Pulaski, KY. I got records of decendants.
I am from Pulaski Co., Kentucky and one of my great aunts put together a Gastineau family tree back in the 1970s. There has been some attempt to update this tree as of late. I do not have the contact name with me however I would be glad to forward this at a later date if you are still interested.

My great aunt had traced our ancestors back to the 1700s in France and Alaska. This all included in the book.

In regards to Sarah Gastineau. I believe my great grandmother's name was Sarah however I am at a loss for my great grandfather's name. I believe they are buried in the cemetary you referenced.

Hi Jim:
I just ran into your message. All the books have been sold. I recently changed the name Musser to Mercer because a native of Pulaski County told me he could find no Musser's but did find Mercer's with the same first names in a census. So you can probably convince me to change back to Musser. I have 3 kids; is that correct?? What else do you need from the Gastineau book. I put that book out in 1994 have been adding/correcting it ever since. Please contact me at Lgastin@msn.com.

My great grandmother was Malvina Frances Gastineau, daughter to William H. Gastineau and Margaret Ann (Greer) Gastineau. She was born 14 April, 1860 at Sommerset, Pulaski county, Kentucky. She married James Buchannon Musser on 18 March, 1885. She died 14 August, 1933 at Chicago, Ill. Is there a Gastineau book out there that has information about them in it? If so, how much are they and can I still get a copy? Any help would be appreciated.

James Gastineau or Serena Gastineau; KY

In trying to untangle family relationships, I find a James "Gastenoe", age 24,listed as a boarder in the household of one of my ancestors, William Routen, Whitley County, KY, in 1910. Also, another ancestor, Monroe Smith married a Serena Gastineau in Somerset KY in 1894, his third marriage at age 77 and her second, age 46. (His first wife was my ancestor Elizabeth Rowton, also found as Routon, Routen, Routin, etc). Although the Gastineaus and Routons were probably not blood relatives, they certainly were well-acquainted with one another. I'm wondering if this Serena Gastineau Smith had children prior to her marriage to Monroe Smith.
