Surnames: Gatchell, Wilcox, Boude
Hi Danielle,
Elisha Gatchell, son of Jeremiah Gatchell and Elizabeth Boude, was born about 1684 in Marblehead, Massachusetts and died in East Nottingham, Pennsylvania (what is now Calvert, Maryland--the Mason-Dixon survey found that most of the Nottingham Lots originally granted by Penn actually lay within Maryland) in 1754. Elisha was therefore about 70 when he died.
Elisha Gatchell married Rachel Wilcox in Philadelphia in 1706. Together, they had seven children: Abigail; Elizabeth, Sarah; Elisha, Hannah, Esther, and Anne.
More information on Elisha's parents can be found in Francis James Dallett's article, "The inter-colonial Grimstone Boude and his family." published in the Genealogist, Vol. 2 (1981).
This Elisha was the first in this American Gatchell line with that given name. It proved to be popular--I know of at least eight other Gatchells named Elisha, including this Elisha's son and grandson.
