Surnames: Brane, Gatenby, Heslop, Hodgson, Pennock, Scott, Wright
hello there, im not sure but there is a chance that we may link back to the same Gatenby in England. My Great Grandmother was Alice Maud Gatenby born 1886 she married William Hodgson Gatenby in 1907 - i believe that i have traced them back via Gatenby as follows:-
William H Gatenby bap 1885
was son of John Gatenby 1852-1898 married to Mary Heslop
John was the son of Jonathan Gatenby 1818 married to Ann Wright in 1841
Jonathan was the son of William Gatenby married to mary Pennock in 1803
I believe (yet to be confirmed) William was the son of William and Jane Brane married 1771 (13 augu 1771) they were married in Whitby (i believe Egton).
finally i think that William has been traced back to Richard Gatenby and Hannah Scott married 1745 in Lythe, Yorkshire.
it seems they moved Lythe to Egton to Guisborough through the generations.
