Hello! My great-great grandmother was Ryna Gathers, great-great grandfather Cain Gathers. Their children included Martha, Evan, Joe, and Louise. They are from SC as well. If any of these names ring a bell, leave a message! I am from NY.

linda just luck up on your e-mail about Geddis/gathers family in charleston SC. My ancestors are Geddis Gathers Gethers/Gettis. Our family members are from charleston/sumter sc. If you can send infromation on your family I will try to help. Alot of the members of the geddis family moved to the north during the 1920's to the present time. Hi i know I'm so late on this and I hope you get this message but my grandfather on my father's side in named Elijah Gathers. All I know about him is that he lived in NY for a little bit before moving back to the South. His mother's name was Dorothy (I forgot her maiden last name but I have her obituary). If it is the same person he has 3 son's that I know of. My father (lance) his brother (with another woman named Kenneth) and the last (Troy who passed away.) I'm writing all of this knowing that you asked it more than 5 years ago. Hopefully your email is the same....

Hi Michelle. I believe that I read your post at another website...I don't remember what the web address was. I sent a response to your email but it bounced back to me stating that the email address was not valid.

In any case, I, too am seeking "Gathers" family relations. I only know my fathers immediate family which originally was based in South Carolina. Most of the elder generation has passed on, or, they are not very informative. The family is very broad...as there were and still are quite a few mixed marriages. I know that my father has relations spread out in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, The Carolinas, Georgia (and other places, I am sure). I have run into other "Gathers" throughout New York and New Jersey, but we haven't yet determined whether we are related yet. As an older relative if they recall a certain name and we get "...we-ll... I'm not sure. They could be related." See what I mean... what a big help that response was.

Hi. I am trying to help conduct a family search for a family tree. Unfortunately, the elders of my father's side of the family aren't being very informative. Hence my internet search. I wonder if your family and is related to mine. They too are from the Carolinas. Other states would be Georgia, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey.

I'm trying to dig a bit deeper and connect some of the family dots. I hope someone can help.

I'm trying to get info on my mother's side of the family. Clara, Benjamin, Hattie, Alvin and Mary Ann (I believe all, except one, born in South Carolina). Their mother was Evelyn. However, the name, prior to coming to New York from SC was Evelyn Geddis, who had a number of sisters--Jean, Rosa, and Elizabeth-- and I believe a brother back in SC named Richard.

However, I've also come across an envelope from another relative, Elijah Gathers from the early 1960's --perhaps another brother??
