Chatham County, NC. marriage records shows Elijah Hickman married Elizabeth Gothings July 22, 1823. I believe Elizabeth's last name is mis-spelled. I think it is probably Gathings since the surname Gothings do not appear anywhere else. Elizabeth probably died before 1830 because it appears that Elijah Hickman remarried in 1830 ( also in Chatham Co. )
