I am researching information on my grandfather Robert Gatling and grandmother Lillian Stewart from Jackson, N.C. My dad's cousin Josephine Garris Gatling ( deceased) from Garysburg, N.C. was a historian to the family tree. The Gatlings that I know expand from California, New Jersey, N.C., Virginia, etc. I was told of Motley's marrying Gatling's from the Roanoke Rapid and Jackson, N.C. areas.
