Classification: Query
Surnames: Gatrell/Wood/Bowling/Allred/Sizemore/Scott/Huddleston
Researching Bowling lines and have a G. C. (or J. C. )
Gatrell living next door to my ancestors. Was curious
to know if there may be a relation to the Bowling family.
On the 1870 Lawrence County Alabama census it shows
G. C. Gatrell age 20 farmer. He is living in his own
household with no wife or children. To the census here
he would have been born about 1850. The first letter
in the initials is difficult to read.
His neighbors are:
R. B. (Reece) Porter - Physician
Joseph Hobbs - Farmer
William Alread (Allred) - Farmer
Henry Boling - Farmer
A. P. Boling - Farmer
Joseph A. J. Wood - Farmer
(Living in the same houshold of the Woods is
James Odom.)
William Crawford Sherrod - M.C. & Farmer
Dennard Wood - Farmer
Alfred Byrd
William Cameron
Isabella Sherrod (Possibly formerly Wood)
I would be interested to hearing of any relation between
the Gatrell's and our Bowling/Wood lines.
Bowling, Wood, Huddleston, Scott, Allred, and
Sizemores tie into the Bowling lines.
Thank you.
