Panneton & Francoise Rocheleau his parents are Francois Gaudete and Francoise Poisson m. 1773 Beaucancour her parents are Pierre-Antoine Poisson & M.-Charlotte Tourigny all are descendants of Jehan Godet (Gaudet)I have researched from Biddeford, Me. where my Granfather Frederick Gaudette settled about 1888

I have posted the results of a study of Gaudet/Gaudette immigrants to Worcester County, Massachusetts on my Gaudet Genealogy web site at http://arslanmb.org/gaudet/gaudet.html. Most of them came from Quebec (Richelieu Valley area) and worked in the textile and shoe/boot manufacturing industries (although I did find a few from New Brunswick). The towns where they are most commonly found include Brookfield, Fitchburg, Northbridge, North Brookfield, Spencer, and Southbridge.

I abstracted all Gaudet/Gaudette families in the Worcester County censuses from 1850 to 1900, plus all the birth, marriage, and deaths registers from that same timeframe. In some towns, the name was commonly spelled "Goddard".

In most cases, I was able to connect the individuals to their parishes of origin in Canada. (See the descendant ID and the corresponding descendant listings.)

I am interested in hearing from anyone who is descended from these Gaudet/Gaudette families in Massachusetts.

STANFORDVILLE - Charles H. Gaudette, 80, of Stanfordville, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Following his graduation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1950, Mr. Gaudette worked at MIT as a member of the team of programmers who developed the COBOL computer language. He also worked for Minneapolis-Honeywell and most recently retired from IBM as a senior programmer and computer architect. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bangall and the IBM Quarter Century Club. He also enjoyed golfing, stamp collecting, and cooking. Born Mar. 21, 1922 in Lowell, Mass., he was the son of Charles and Eugenia Saucier Gaudette. On June 23, 1951, he married Theresa McKenna in Lowell, Mass. Mrs. Gaudette survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gail M. Lee of Rhinebeck; three sons, Charles H. Gaudette, Jr. of Hyde Park, Stephen E. Gaudette of Hopewell Junction, and Paul D. Gaudette of Phoenix, Ariz., and 13 grandchildren. Many years ago Mrs. Gaudette worked as a secretary for the Boston and Maine Railroad in Boston, MA; and, after moving to the Hudson Valley, she was a real estate agent for Century 21 in Mt. Kisco, NY for 15 years. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Bangall; and was active in the Stanford Garden Club, and as a Volunteer at the Northern Dutchess Hospital. She enjoyed spending time knitting for her family. Born January 29, 1927 in Lowell, MA, she was the eldest of the nine children born to Stephen and Gertrude (Beaubien) McKenna. On June 23, 1951 in Lowell, MA, she married Charles H. Gaudette. Mr. Gaudette passed away July 24, 2002. Mrs. Gaudette is survived by four children Gail M. Lee of Rhinebeck; Charles H. was this family from Lowell, MA? I think I distantly relate to Carl H. Munn who married Angelina. I'm sorry I can't tell you more...until I read your message I didn't know the names of their children. I only knew that Carl H. Munn married someone named "Angeline O." but didn't have her maiden name. I know a little bit about them; Carl's father and my gr grandfather were brothers...so I have a lot of info on Munn family. I have access to a lot of paid sites so perhaps can find out more abt. the daughters. From what I can figure out Carl died in Newark, NJ in 1972 and I think Angeline died in 1983 in Georgia. The birthdate for her (21 Aug 1902) matches the birthdate for and Angeline Gaudette b. in Lowell, MA to parents: George Gaudette and Lucie ?Parmerlean?
I do have some info on the family of Carl's brother: Edmund Francis Munn.

Christina, I have a lot of information about the family of Lumina Gaudette (wife of Marcellin Thibert). She was born 25 Apr 1876, probably in Calumet, Houghton County, Michigan. Her parents are Gedeon Gaudette and Philomene Toupin, who were married about 1874-1875, probably in Houghton County. Gedeon Gaudette's parents Alexis Gaudet and Marie Seraphine Richard were married 9 Jan 1837 at St-Gregoire, Nicolet County, Quebec. Philomene Toupin's parents Pascal Toupin and Rose de Lima Beauvais were married 3 November 1847 at St-Edouard, Napierville County, Quebec.

In further research I have found that Mathilda Vienneau Gaudet, married to Ignace, was born in St. Thomas Parish, Memramcook, New Brunswick Canada in the year 1856 app. I have also heard from Rick Peters from Michigan,who is a distant relative and related to the Gaudet/Vienneau ancestry. He gave me info on my GGrandfather Ignace who died of pneumonia in Richbucto, Kent County New Brunswick Canada Oct 21, 1917. So therefore my GGrandmother Mathilda was widowed and moved with her younger children to Mass. I am still looking for the birthplace of my Grandmother Josephine or Delphine Gaudette. CHAMPLAIN — Eleanor A. Gaudette, 85, of Champlain, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at her home.

Mrs. Gaudette was born July 8, 1920, in Rouses Point, N.Y., the daughter of Napolean and Margaret (Patnode) Chenevert. Her parents predeceased her.

She graduated from Rouses Point High School in June of 1937. She married Clayton F. Gaudette; he predeceased her on Nov. 15, 1996. Mrs. Gaudette enjoyed watching NASCAR drivers Michael Waltrip and Bill Davis. She also liked listening to the songs of Randy Travis and Daniel O'Donald and playing a good hand of cards, which kept her car tin full of change.

Survivors include seven sons, Gerald and Ann Gaudette of Rouses Point, Maurice and Linda Gaudette of Scotia, N.Y., Donald Gaudette of Rouses Point, Ronald and Bonnie Gaudette of Plattsburgh, Bruce and Linda Gaudette of Rouses Point, Richard Gaudette of Champlain and Jeffery and Racheal Gaudette of Champlain; one daughter, Margaret Gaudette of Champlain; one brother, Benedict Chenevert of Plattsburgh; one sister, Clara Gooley of Champlain; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Gaudette was predeceased by one son, Lester Gaudette on May 14, 1996; three brothers, Horatio Chenevert, Thomas Chenevert and William Chenevert; seven sisters, Bertha Swinton, Anna Gamache, Dorothy Mussen, Mabel LaBombard, Margaret Hill, Beatrice Supernault and Elizabeth Castine.

This Michel Gaudette is the son of Michel Gaudette(same name) and Marie-Genneviève Brazeau who were married in 1785 in St-Antoine-sur Richelieu.

Your Michel Gaudette & Marie-Louise Liselle were Married in 1811 in St-Marc-sur Richelieu.

I don't have info. on any chldren.

Speaking of Michel Gaudette, I am looking for info. on another one married twice;

.1st marriage: to Hermina St-Félix in 1846 in St-Ours-sur -Richelieu;

Which Gaudette family ? My Great grand mother was Marie Rosalba Gaudette, born Mar 29 1878 St. Jude PQ. Daughter of Edouard G and Azilda Phaneuf. She married Jean Honore Boutin about 1902-1904 . Can't find the marriage record. Their first son was born 1904 in Holyoke Mass. Can you help?

I have been looking for info on Matilda {Burke ?} who settled in Lynn and area around Mass. I am her grand daudgter-in-law and have been looking for them. I do not know anything about Mr Gaudet--te except that he was from Canada and she was from NS I know all the names or thier children but not
who they married. Only some of them. If this fits please let me hear from you

....dies in Calif.

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. - Mrs. Evelyn (Gendreau) Gaudette, 62, a native of Lowell, Mass., died here yesterday where she made her home with her son, Gerald. Mrs. Gaudette had made her home in Lowell for 60 years until she moved to California two years ago. She is survived by two sons, Gerald Gaudette of this city and Paul Gaudette, stationed at the Williams Air Force Base in Arizona; three daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Roy of California, Mrs. Lorraine Carignan and Mrs. Diane Duhamel, both of Lowell; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Sheehan, Mrs. Cecillia Marchand and Mrs. Mabel Dumont, all of Lowell; five brothers, Frank Gendreau of Pomono, Calif.; William Gendreau of San Fernando Valley, Calif.; Leo Gendreau and Raymond Gendreau, both of Lowell; and Clarence Gendreau of Methuen, Mass.; and nine grandchildren.

Services and burial will be in California Monday.

That is great news! I'm glad the obit helped. I always get copies of other obits while copying just one on the microfiche...so why not post them on the message boards. You just never know when it will be helpful to someone.

I am looking for living relatives of my Gaudette family. My grandmother was Aurore Gaudette (1st Marriage - Cloutier, 2nd marriage - Boivin). She had 5 living sisters & brothers - George b. July 1897, Orville C. (Bill) b. 1901, Angelina O b. 1903, William (Willie) b. abt 1904, and Virginia E. b. abt 1909. I am trying to help my Aunt Doris (one of Aurore's dtrs) find any living cousins. George A. m. Oicana and had twins, Juliette B and Alice, Angelina m. Carl H. Munn and had 2 dtrs, Eleanor and Evelyn, Virginia E. m. Emile Striniste (sp?) and had Peter. My great, great-grandfather was Clement Gaudette (from Canada) m. Marie Gervais (possibly from NY). My great-grandfather (their son) was George Gaudette b. May 1875 in Canada m. Lucie Pomerleau. I am looking for living relatives of George Gaudettes children (George A. b. July 1897 (lived in Tyngsboro, MA in 1949 & 1958; Orville C (Bill) b. abt 1901 (lived in Washington, DC in 1949); Angelina O. b. abt 1903 (lived in Lowell, MA in 1949); William (Willie) b. abt. 1904 (lived in Canal Zone, Panama in 1949); and Virginia E. b. abt 1909 (lived in Westfield, MA in 1949). Their other child Aurore Lucy was my grandmother.). They were all born in Lowell, MA.

I have received some information that Philomene may be Marie (?). Does any of this information mesh with yours? Thanks.
