Marie Eliette Gaudry

Searching for any family of Marie Eliette Gaudry. She was born around Quebec on July 25, 1951. She was adopted by an American family and brought to Indiana. According to her passport, she arrived in the US on March 23, 1952. Her American parents were killed in a car accident when she was five years old. They were the only ones who knew anything about her birth parents. The book she has is written in French and we do not understand it, but it does talk about adoption and on the cover it says: La Sauvegarde de l'Enfance 43, rue d'Auteuil, Quebec. Anyone who may have some information on her family or can tell us what this cover says, please respond.
Thank You in Advance

Hey Michelle, I too have been coming across alot of French stuff on my family tree. This web site is the best for translations:
www.dictonary.com
So what I do is copy the document & paste then ask for a translation from French to English. Hope this helps!

La Sauvegarde de l'Enfance was described in the mid-1950s as "an adoption agency serving the French-speaking Roman Catholics in the Archdiocese of Quebec."

I quoted from page 470 of "Adoption Agencies, Orphanages and Maternity Homes: An Historical Directory," c1981, now out-of-print.

The agency is perhaps included in the Canadian Catholic series of directories titled, "La Canada Ecclesiastique," published annually since 1887.

A search engine such as Google.com could probably dig up all sorts of interesting entries, including adoptee search and support groups or reunion registries.

Don't forget that the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service would have a file on the adoptee, and I suppose the Privacy Act of 1974 could be invoked if she wanted to obtain a copy of her file.

Good luck from [Mr.] Reg Niles.

thanks for the information about the book. However, I need to know more about the Hillside cottage (Home of the Friendless) around the time of 1915-1920. i can not find anything about them during this time period.
