I am Leonard L Lambert son of Walter J Lambert son of Philippe Louis Lambert born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and Married to Marie D. Gauthier in Montreal, Canada. They moved
to Centerville, Mississippi, USA and after my dad Walter was born in 1904 My grandfather/grandmother went back to Canada after 1909 with her dying in Canada in 1915 in Montreal. If you have any info on this tree please let me know because I have been trying for 40 years to find these cousins and even their children and I know there are a lot. They all spoke French so I know they are Arcadians. Thank you lennie d cajun.

Magloire GONTHIER in St. Gervais, Magloire GAUTHIER in St. Jean sur Richelieu c. 1849

Hello folks,
I would like to know how Magloire Gonthier in St. Gervais (Bellechasse) became Magloire Gauthier in St. Jean (now St. Jean sur Richelieu) when he moved his family circa 1849. The parish record of St. Gervais lists many Gonthier families. It does not seem that the small "o-n" is just a sloppily written "a-u". There are clear and distinct examples of "a" and "u" elsewhere in the St. Gervais record.

Unfortunately, I do not speak French. Do "Gauthier" and "Gonthier" sound the same?

By the way, the spouse of Magloire Gauthier/Gonthier was Emerance Allaire.

I can't see why Magloire would have altered his surname when he moved to St. Jean. Yet the parish record keepers in each town wrote the name differently. Can anyone explain this?

Bob G.
Celina Gauthier, Noah King (Roy), Quebec, Marquette, Houghton, Michigan

Celina Gauthier, born in Quebec around 1851. She married Noah King (Noe Roy or Roi?) who was born in Quebec about 1842. They had ten children, the first of which was also Celina born in Quebec in 1872. Other children were Daniel, Adolph, Fred, Albert, Alexander, Benjamin, Marie and Josephine. The tenth child died. Celina (the daughter) married Alexander Hebert of New York on July 15, 1889, location unknown, probably Houghton, Marquette or Baraga County, Michigan.

The family moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from Canada around 1881, residing first in Houghton County, later in Marquette County. Noah had a 160 acre farm in Forsyth Township, Marquette County in 1900 and Celina lived in the City of Marquette with the children in 1910 and 1920. There is a Noah living with a housekeeper named Victoria Gauthier in 1910 in Baraga County, Michigan which may or may not be the same Noah.

Any ideas on this group would be appreciated.

Hi,

I am looking for information on Adolph Gauthier and his mother Priscilla(Boisvert Greenwood) Gauthier. Priscilla was the daughter of Joseph Boisvert Greenwood and Elisabeth Cote. She was born in Quebec and also was known as Cecile. She was married to Antoine Gauthier July 19, 1853 in St. Francois du Lac Quebec. They brought there family to the Manitowoc area of Wisconsin about 1858. I am interested to know how Priscilla is related to my great great grandfather Louis Boisvert Greenwood. Louis and his wife Sophia Courchesne (Courchaine)settled in the Manitowoc area in 1854. There seems to be a strong connection with Priscilla and Louis's family from records that I have seen.

I appreciate any information
Roxanne

His ashes will be placed next to our mom to remain together forever. Dad, we love you and miss you. You will remain forever in our hearts.
Those wishing to donate may do so in Armand’s name to Community Hospice in Apple Valley.
Victor Valley Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Looking for the birth record & parents of my GGrandmother Marguerite Gauthier. We know she was born in Canada in or around 1829----old obit we have -- she died in Malone, NY at age 84, no mention of her parents. She married a John Baptize Tougas----date or place of marrriage unknown. The family apparantly lived in Malone, NY or in St Lawrence Cty during their married life. They were staunch Methodist---(from the Obit)----they may have been married on an Indain settlement close to the Canadian border----elders in the family tell us they had their marriage blessed and children all baptised on the same day in a Methodist church somewhere in Northern NY.??? Thank you for any information you can provide on Marguerite/Margaret Gauthier, her birth, parents & family.
GAUTHIER/COTE family of Lac Bouchette

Searching for parents of M. (Marie?) Josephine Lucie COTE, who married Joseph GAUTHIER at STA, Lac Bouchette on 28 May 1901. Only information I have about her parents is their names: Louis COTE and Arthemise PATRY.

Lucie is the youngest sibling and only sister of my grandfather, Charles Leon COTE. Other sibling names are: Louis Jr., Alfred, and James.

The Joseph and Lucie Gauthier family appears in the 1911 census for Lac Bouchette as follows:
Joseph, Chef, born April 1875, age 36
Lucie, espouse, born Dec 1881, age 30
Lucie, fille, born May 1902, age 9
Yvonne(?), fille, born Sept 1903, age 7
Armand, fils, born August 1905, age 6
Edgar, fils, born August 1907, age 4
Leon, fils, born, Dec 1909, age 2
Ferdinand, fils, born Feb 1911, age 4 months
next door lived Eric Gauthier, Chef, Widower, born Dec 1844, age 67

Perhaps there are children (or grandchildren) of the above-listed, or subsequently born, children who have information about their mother’s family?

One other “fact” about Lucie: she was said to have run a dry goods or general store in Roberval or Lac Bouchette.

I, along with my brother and a cousin, am going to the Lac St. Jean area in early September, for genealogical research purposes. Many events of the Cote family took place in that area, i.e.: Lac Bouchette, St. Francois de Sales (which I canNOT find in the 1911 census), Ste. Hedwidge, maybe Roberval.

Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Patricia Cote Grogg
currently in Ohio, USA
I am looking for information on Elizabeth Gauthier. Born C 1799. She married Francois LeMieux in 8/29/1864 in Michigan. According to her son's death certificate she was from Lac Courte Oreilles, WI. They had 8 children Her children's names were:
1. Francois Baptiste: Born 8/1823
2. Peter: 1825
3. John Baptiste: 1827
4. Charlotte: 1831
5. Margaret: 1834
6. Amable: 4/11/1836
7. Louis: 12/30/1838
8. Hilarius: 8/16/1841.

According to the St Joseph Mission Death Registry Francois died on 10/26/1842. I am not sure where the Michigan Marriages recieved their information but it doesn't seem to jive with the dates of birth, death, and the childrens birthdates. Do you have any information on this person?

I am looking for details on the decendents of the 14 children of Louis & Lorette (Robichaud) Gauthier. Louis died 1960-01-15, married Lorette in Shippigan 1906-07-26. She was born (of Johnny & Obeline (Robichaud) Robichaud)1880-12-12 and died 1954-12-15.

Louis' parents were Louis & Constance (Drisdelle) Gauthier. As well decendent information, I would like any details on going back - ie; I believe that Louis (married to Constance) was born of a Nicholas (spelling?), though I am not sure.

I have information too on another Louis Gauthier who married a Marie Chaisson, from Caraquet, in the early 1800's and moved back to Miscou in 1833 and had 8-9 children - 5 girls & 3 boys. The children were born between 1831 and 1844, approx. This Louis was born about 1791 and Marie was born about 1794. Appoline, a sister of Marie, married a Georges Sivert, who died around 1845-46.

And information on the Miscou Island Gauthier's family tree will be welcomed and appreciated.

My G-G-grandfather was John Elias Gokey. He was married to Caroline Jane Pillar (born in Russell Canada - died in Napa CA 1878). We believe she was Indian as her photograph and her daughter (my G-grandmother Ida Victoria Gokey) appeared to have Indian features. I have found info on the Pillar family, but not places of birth nor any info on the Gokey family. John Gokey did visit kin in Pulaski New York in the 1920s, just before his death. He and my G-G-grandmother moved from Canada to Napa Calif sometime before 1868, when/where my G-grandmother was born. Any info/help would be greatly appreciated - esp for my aging mother's peace of mind.
Catherine Gauthier 1791 marriage (PRDH)

According to the PRDH, a CATHERINE GAUTHIER married ANDRE AMABLE MORIN in 1791 Montreal. She listed as Catherine Gauthier LaFrance.

I only have the free part of the program so that was all the information I have at this time. They had a son FRANCOIS BENJAMIN MORIN b.1793 Montreal that is my line. In 1820 census he in Michlimackinac, Michigan. 1830 same place. In 1840 he in St. Croix, Wisconsin census. 1850 till death he in LaPointe, Wisconsin area of Madeleine Island. Various names were Morin, Morrin, Morreau & eventually settling on Morrow.

My question is if anyone has a CATHERINE GAUTHIER married in 1791 Montreal to ANDRE AMABLE MORIN in their records or files? I just found this today, so am just starting this research. I haven't been able to find parents of either of them or dates for their ages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance. Peggy.
I am researching a Francois Laroche, born July 12, 1836 or 1839. We do not know the place he comes from in Quebec except "The Montreal Region." Groups of French Canadians would leave together to go to Minnesota in the 1850s and on. I am trying to narrow down the area near Montreal (to do some research) and would like to know where your ancestor Gauthier came from in Quebec. Thank you, Jacqueline

I am interested in any information about John B. Gauthier. He was born in 1859 and died in 1938. I don't know where, but my best guess is that he was in Michigan when he died. His wife, Mariem Louisa Hazzard, was born in 1870 in Ontario, and died in 1950. He had a son, Clovis J. Gauthier. Clovis was born June 10 1898. He died in Los Angeles in 1979. I have no information about Clovis's life, except that he married a woman named Gertrude Pier, who was born in Michigan and stayed there most of their early married life. Actually, any more information on any of these people at all would be greatly appreciated. I feel almost like they don't exist, they have been so elusive to me. Thank you!
