I recently discovered a John Conn living in Gavelton in the 1901 and 1911 census. I believe he was my gg-grandfather. He was a miner, of Scotch origin and Presbyterian. He had a family in Springhill, NS and was a coal miner there in 1881. Was there gold mining in the Gavelton area?
