Surnames: Gavin, Whelan, Whalen
Hello,
My (now) husband's gr-grandparents were Peter GAVIN and Margaret WHELAN who were born in County Galway, Ireland ~1860. They both came to Massachusetts in 1883 and married in 1884 in Waltham, MA. They had many children there.
From their marriage record, I found out their parents' names, but I've never found anything else about them. (See archives of this Board.)
I was wondering if there were other researchers who have their ancestors coming from County Galway. Perhaps we can compare notes.
I don't know what part of Co. Galway the families came from.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
(Admin. for GAVIN List)
Reminder that the names are spelled both WHELAN and WHALEN
