John Gawel born in 1906 in Amsterdam, NY to Frank Gawel and Katinzyna Sszegok. Rumor has it they soon returned to Poland and John came back by 1930 and married Stella Illnicki. The family does seem to disappear from US records until John appears in the 1930 census with Stella. There are other Gawels living in Amsterdam from the early 1900s until at least the 1920s but not sure of the connection. Does anyone know much about this family? Thanks.
