I am not too hip on dna. Can you explain a bit about the y chromosone. I did a look on FamilySearch for Barnabas Chesley Gay and came up with the name. He was born 14 July 1808, married Elizabeth Ann McNair 17 December, 1834 and died 03 September 1889. Are we talking about the same person? I understand that testing on males has to be done on someone with the target surname, in this case Gay. The last male person I knew with the Gay surname (my cousin) is deceased.
It would be interesting to see how Barnabas ties in. It might help me add to the family tree. I don't know a whole lot more now than I did in 2004. Waiting to hear from you, Phillip
