FLORIDA CITY, Fla. - William Gay, 65, of Florida City, Fla., died on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, after a brief illness. Mr. Gay was born May 20, 1934, in Erie, Pa. He was employed by B. F. Goodrich and B. F. International for 10 years. He worked at Bandag for 29 years, spending 4 years in Oxford, N. C. until his retirement in May of 1996. He was involved in a ministry related activities including a street ministry in Muscatine with coffeehouses and other programs for young people, and was instrumental in many receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. He was also a long time board member at Faith Christian Outreach Center in Mount Pleasant. He spent last spring and summer, along with his wife, Shirley, ministering on the Cheyenne River Indian Reserve in Timberlake, S. D. A celebration will be held at Faith Christian Outreach Center in Mount Pleasant later this month. Please, no flowers. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; and Tanya and Chris Meiners of Houston, Texas; as well as a host of other "adopted" children.
