I am checking as I have several Jacob Gearhart's in my family. The one I was searching was a local hero in PA during the civil war, born 1828 to Isaac Gearhart and Ann Shafer/Shaffer. I will see if any of their relatives had a child names Jacob. Thanks for replying.

Hi Judy, I'm hoping that after all this time, you might still be visiting the message boards. I'm a descendent of Andrew Jackson Gearhart and Elizabeth A. Holmes, through their daughter, Alida Jane Gearhart who married James Henry Hunt. If you would not mind, I would like to have a picture that shows Elizabeth. I have a scanned picture of Andrew, and am interested in comparing it another. Also, I am in the process of uploading the few photos I have scans of to my family tree (Milo G. Hunt). After his father died he was raised by a relative by the name of Wolfskihl in Madison Co.,Ky. He served in the war of 1812. Later went to Missouri with the Wolfskihl family. The Wolfskihl's were related to his Grandfather by marriage. Peter Sr married Anna Margaretha Wolfskihl and lived his life in Franklin Co.,Va.

I have 23 resources for Isaac Gearhart but not for his death.
He owned a great deal of land in Howard county so I think there should be a will and probate. An obit would definitely be welcome.

My Leonard Gearhart was born Lenhart Gerhart in Lettweiler, Pfatz, Rheinland, Germany in 1697, came to America on the Loyal Judith in 1740. Lived in Montgomery, Pennsylvania, and died in Philly in 1772. He married Elizabeth Dudley, son Peter, who married Anna Margretha Wolffskihl. The info I am interested in finding is anything about his family before he came here - parents, etc.

Rev. Glenn P. Gearhart, 77, of Philipsburg, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

He was born July 31, 1931, in Gearhartville, a son of the late John Wesley and Ruth (Botewrighte) Gearhart.

On June 7, 1953 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, he married Winifred (Guyer) Gearhart, who survives at home. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together.

Glenn graduated from Philipsburg High School in 1949.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953.

He was also a Boy Scoutmaster of Troop 43 in West Decatur in 1959.

In his younger years, Glenn worked at the Blue Ball Brick Yard and Marhoffer and Holsom Bread companies.

He entered the United Methodist ministry in 1965, after completing two years at Lock Haven University and Lay-Pastor School at American University, Washington, D.C.

Rev. Gearhart's first charge was at the United Methodist Church, in Newton Hamilton. He then moved to Lock Haven, where he spent 13 years at East Main Street United Methodist and Laurel Run United Methodist near Mill Hall. From 1983 to 1985, he ministered at Grace United Methodist in Altoona and at the Morrisdale charge from 1985 to 1986. In his retirement, he ministered at the Wallaceton charge for seven years.

Glenn was a 32-degree Mason, an honorary member of the American Legion and a member of the West Decatur Senior Citizens. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and sportsman.

He enjoyed spending time camping with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, his is survived by a son, Glenn "Rob" Gearhart of Philipsburg; two daughters, Cindy Bordas of Philipsburg
and Cheri Sinclair of Bellefonte;
nine grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren;
numerous nieces and nephews;
and his best friend "Rusty," his pitbull.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Gearhart and Thomas "Dee" Gearhart, and one sister, Eleanor Rodgers.

A memorial service will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 2707 Old Erie Pike, West Decatur, on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Dr. Pam Ford and Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Mock's Hill Cemetery.

A luncheon will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 31, West Decatur, Pa 16878 or to Wallaceton United Methodist Church, 416 Clearfield St., Wallaceton, Pa. 16876.

I don't have anything on him except my granny Willie Bertha Gearhart/Jones. I have nothing on Sarah catherine, his wife either. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thier marrage records state they were married in Putnam County West Virginia. Of course we know that is not always the case. Do you have a copy of the 1870 census record. I have not found one for Mason or Putnam.

I am trying to find info on William H. Gearhart poss. born in Putnam county West Virginia. He married Sarah Catherine Stickler in 1879 in Putnam.

Thier dau was Willie B Gearhart born 26 apr 1880 in Putnam. This I beleive was my ggrandma. She was called Bertha. Bertha married Jesse Jones in abt 1903

They also had a son William C Gearhart born abt 1884 in Mason county.

Here is where I lose the Gearharts. Can anyone help.

My aunt mae has told me that granny had two bro and at least one moved to Columbus, Ohio as she used to write letters to him for granny. but she can't remember anything else as she was only about eight yrs old at the time. She thinks he had a coal yard there.

Is he sure his grandfather was Charles and not William. I am looking for info on a gearhart in Columbus. William H Gearhart's son was in Columbus back in the 1940 as my aunt wrote letters to him for my granny who was William's dau.
Granny (Willie Bertha) was born 1880 in Putname cty w va. Her bro William C was born 1884 in Mason cty.

My aunt said that this missing bro(she can[t remember his name now at 82 yrs) was a coal dealer and so was granville so I thought this might be him. I will keep you in mind if I find anything out.

Do you have Daniel Gearhart and Rebecca Johnson as the parents of William H. ? He was the oldest in the Mason Co.,W.Va. census...for 1870.

I see Willie B. and hubbie in the 1910 Cabel Co.,W.Va. census.

I tend to think that William H. was married a second time to Minnie Cole...in Ga...Could be incorrect however..Herb

Do you have any Bandy's listed in connection with your gearharts?
In Barboursville, WV. Cabell county in 1930 I found a James Bandy listed as son-in-law on the Town census, this is on Doors to the Past Cabell county, WV. website.
Crawford was the Head of household wife Samantha Grandson Walter Geartheart.
3 laborers working for them all brothers with last name of Mays.
Any info. connection to any Bandy would be appreciated.

I recently bought three photos of members of the same family. The photos are of parents Joseph and Effie Klise Gearhart, their daughter Venus, and twin sons Marlin and Marvin. The photos were taken between 1890- 1915, I believe. The photo of the parents was taken by Russell of Baxter, Iowa. The photo of little girl Venus was by E. A. Conn, The Picture Maker, Baxter, Iowa. The photo of the twins lists no photographer.

The Joseph and Effie Klise Gearhart family was enumerated in the 1905
Census for Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa. The family lived at
808 W. State Street. The members of the family are listed as the following:
Joseph, Effie, and children Venus, Wayne, Geverdean, and twins Marlin
and Marvin.
