Louis Gebert

My Grandfather was Louis Gebert born 28 July 1849
Arrived in the USA from Germany in 1880
Had 3 children that came to the US in 1883, married Frederika Flintzer in 18885.
They had 6 children. Caroline, Laura, Charles, Mary, Herman and John. My father was John.
would like more Gebert family information, know Louis had to have brothers and sisters and would like to know what his parents names were.

Jami; I am a Gebert (maiden name) my father's family is from Ohio, (mostly around Beaver Dam and Finley) they were german immigrants. My father was born in 1919.

My understanding is that John was from Prussia. Francesca's maiden hame was Haliszka. I have seen several variations on the spelling of her name. She seems to have been from Bohemia. As far as I can tell, they met and married here in Texas.

Judy, I came across this old post of your while doing a search for OTT messages. I noticed that your Geberts were from Rammersweier. Were your OTT ancestors also from there, or nearby? My OTT ancestors all attended Weingarten church as well. While researching them, I would frequently come across the GEBERT surname, but none were in my line.

My g-gfather, ferdinand OTT left rammersweier in 1854 and settled in Harrison Co., IN. His cousin Joseph OTT settled in Missouri, and another cousin, Carl OTT, settled in Blount Co., TN. Although they did not emigrate together, they all arrived here in 1854 or thereabouts.

I'm also a great granddaughter of John Gebert and his wife Franciska. My grandfather was their youngest son Adolph. I actually have some info and pictures about John. Hardly anything about Franciska though. I have recently started researching again after several years of doing nothing.

I am a great grandaughter of John Gebert (1840-1908)who settled in Austin County, TX in the 1870's. He was married to Franciska Haliska(1850-1933) in 1877. I am interested in any information that anyone might have about this couple.

I am also researching the Henry Wolff family. I believe that their son Benjamin is Benjamin Julius Wolff, my husband's grandfather. I have information on that line if you are interested.

I have noted the Henry Wolff family in the 1860 census in Ward 7 Chicago in which the German spelling of the children's names is used.

I am looking to fill in the Michael/Elizabeth Krebs Gebert descendency and I have been having some trouble finding Charlotte and Albert in various records. When and where did Charlotte Gebert and Albert Fitting get married? Did they stay in Pennsylvania? How many children did they have? If you'd like, I'll gladly share what informatio I have.

My grandmother's name was Charlotte Gebert, born Jan. 22, 1990 in Pennsylvania. She married Albert Earl Fitting. She was one of eleven children. Her parents are William and Cebilla Gebert.

William was born Jan. 1856, my records show that he was the son of Michael Gebert and Elizabeth Krebs.

My people come from Schwaigern, Wurtemberg, Germany and arrrivred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1731.Name was probably changed to Gabbert at US Customs upon their departure from the ship, I'll try to give you as much information as I can later.

Friedrich Gebert from Prussia to Bremer Co., Iowa

The 1880 Census for Douglas Twp., Bremer Co., Iowa, lists Fred Gebert, age 73, a retired farmer born in Prussia and his wife, Dora (Dorothea Rathsak), age 60, also born in Prussia. A second listing in the same location is for Fred Gebert, age 32, a farmer born in Prussia, his wife Louisa, age 24, born in Illinois, and their daughter, Louisa, age 11 months, born in Iowa. A daughter of the elder Fred Gebert, Albertine Gebert, born in Prussia on 27 JAN 1850 was married first to David Johnson, who died in 1882, then to Albert Kruger, and also lived in Douglas Twp. Her marriage license indicates a birthplace of Birkholz, Prussia. Unfortunately there appear to be five different locations named Birkholz in Brandenburg. Any information would be appreciated.

Would love to help you but without knowing in what time period your ggpa came over here[USA?], not much we can do. Also if you have any idea of where in Germany he came from, then there's a lot more info available.

Have you tried familysearch.com? They have a lot of German Geberts you can find on line.

Hi Stacey,
Our Gebert line immigrated from Switzerland to Indiana about 1848-1850. I don't know of any of them staying in New York. I do know a few lived in Chippewa County, Wisconsin for a few years in the mid to late 1800's, but they moved to Indiana also. I don't have any Schreiber's in my file. Sorry.

Our Geberts came to the US from Switz. around 1850. They went to Wisconsin until around 1902, when they moved to Indiana.

Yes - I remember your father use to live in New Rochelle and we very briefly spoke once on the phone (early 1980's) as our mail got crossed up. In fact, everyone called me when their was an article on the Tappan Zee Bridge and your father was involved in the article.
There was a child actor in the 1950's named Gordon Gebert. I'm surprised that our name has been duplicated several times.

She's descended from George & Louisa Kretziinger Kibiger thru their son George, Jr.

I beleive George Sr. & Louisa had daughter Anna Mary who married John L. Gebert. Would like to confirm vitals on this couple.

My Ulrich came over in 1892 and wife Magda with children Peter, Charles, Wilhelm, Henry, George and Katcha in 1893. I know of no hints to other connections in US.
Ulrich apparently left Rammersweier for Bürgel, Offenbach in the early 1870s and in 1892 went to America.
Wish I could connect, but I too seek clues.

My Geberts were from Brooklyn and Danbury CT.
Ulrich Gebert who emigrated from Baden in 1892 was the son of Anton Gebert who was the son of Christian Gebert.
These Geberts go back to the 1600s in Rammersweier near Offenburg in Baden.

My gpa was born in Offenbach in 1881. His wife was born in 1900 in NJ. They had a dtr in 1941 who is still kicking quite well so her info in private. His two brothers who had children were in CT and stopped having them in @1915 and mid 1920's.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a retired adminsitrative secretary in accounting with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Predeceased by husband of 52 years, Elroy N. Gebert who died 2 Nov 2000.
Survived by two chilren, Michael Gebert and Vaneta Davis and husband George of Austin,TX;brother, Herbert Naumann and wife Sandra of Arlington, TX;five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Interment in Capital Parks Cemtery in Pflugerville, TX.
Cokk-Walden 5120454-5611.
