Howdy,

My name is James C Norred and am descended from Benjamin Issac Norred (Norrod) who came over in 1746. I am from the group of his ancestors who settled in the Burnet, Texas area. My gg grandfather was James Oliver Norred son of Isaac Oliver Norred etc.

I am looking for Norred pictures as there seems to be few. I have some recent of the family but not much before the 1950's.

I have just started a website norreds.com and hope to start getting all my research up online soon. I have contact info there.

Hi my mother was a gehegan her name is josephine and she had 4 brothers ans 3 sister she was raised in Springfied I believe my grandfathers name was Otis. I also lived in Springfield LA with my parents my maiden name was Bates I am wondering if we are related and I didn't know an oscar but I really didn't know any of my grandfathers relatives

Thelma Gehegan married Randall Norred. They are my paternal grandparents. ( Father George F. Norred )

Have you checked Carter Cemetery or Springfield Cemetery? These are both located in Springfield, La. There are a few Gehegan's buried there. Oscar was my grandfather's uncle but I don't have any info on him. Do you have any info for Oscar?

I believe I've checked the cemetery records for the Jerusalem Baptist Church cemetery and did not find Oscar Gehegan.

you can find The Gehegan family in Springfield, La. Oscar was my great grandfather's brother. I don't have a lot of info, just names. Most of them are buried in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetary in Hammond, La.

Was Otis mothers name Martha. If so I have a copy of her obit from the Book "Ponchatoula Historical Records vol. II" would be happy to share.

Most of the Gehegans are buried in Pumpkin Center in Jerusalem Church Cemetary. I am also related to Oscar I believe he was a gr-gr- uncle. I have some information. I would be glad to send them to you just let me know your email address or if you prefer snail mail.

My husband and I live in Gretna. His family -- Allen Murlee McDonald and Effie Rose (Gehegan) McDonald lived in Algiers, La. My husband's sister has been trying to find information on her maternal grandfather but have been totally unsuccessful.

My understanding from my mother-in-law is that Thelma Gehegan married either William or Randolph Norred. Her brother, Oscar was my husband's paternal grandfather and we have no information on him. My mother-in-law believes that he died in Louisiana while she and her husband lived in Oklahoma -- possibly around 1952. I have checked all cemetery records for Livingston Parish and find no record of an Oscar Gehegan.

My e-mail address is lois236@cox.net and would be interested in any information you might have. I've been working on genealogy for my husband's family for several years and have quite a bit of information on the paternal side -- the McDonalds from Livingston Parish, going back to the 1700s, but could get no further than the last century with the Gehegan/Norred family.

The surnames in my husbands family are: McDonald, Stewart, Justice (Justus), Gehegan, Norred, and Allen.

Yes I am related to the same set of Gehegans'. Thelma was my great great Aunt. My grandfather on my maternal side was a Gehegan. What part of Louisiana do you live in? The Gehegans set up residence in Springfield and Livingston.

My mother-in-law's maiden hame if Gehegan. We are in Louisiana. She knows absolutely nothing about her father, Oscar Gehegan, who left her mother, Edna Odelia (Norred), when my mother-in-law was a small child. My mother-in-law was born in 1930. I have searched the internet on different genealogy websites looking for an Oscar Gehegan, with no luck. I believe he may have had a sister named Thelma.

My mothers name is Carol her maiden name is Gehegan. Her father was Otis Ervin Gehegan. The Gehegans I'm looking for came from Ireland. My great-gr grandfather was Pete Gehegan born abt 1880 in La. His mother and Father were born in Ireland. I have been looking for any Gehegans and have been unable to find alot of info. If there are alot of Gehegans we still must be related because Gehegan is a extremely rare name in the United States.

I also have been trying to research the Gehegan name. What was you mothers first name and do you know the name of your grandparents? I have some info but I don't know if it is the same bloodline that I have traced. You would be surprised how many Gehegans there are out there.

I'm seeking any info on the GEHEGAN name. The origin is unknown. My mother's maiden name was Gehegan and the only info that we have is her great-grandparents came to America from Ireland. This is NOT a COMMON name. We would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks.
