In the will of Christian Mayer, Franconia Twp., Montgomery Co. PA, written on 26 April 1782 and proved on 31 May 1787, he mentions his deceased daughter, Esther, and her children by Christian Gehman. The children's inheritance was to be "…paid into the hand of their father…until their marriage or respective lawful age…", indicating that they were minors in 1782. The estate administration papers offer no additional information.

Richard Warren Davis in "Emigrants, Refugees and Prisoners", Vol. II. Gives a birth date for Esther of 21 Nov 1742. This would place Christian's birth in the same time frame.

Who was this Christian Gehman? The Christian Gehman (1707-1772) of nearby Hereford Twp., Berks Co. did not have a son named Christian. Could he be the son of Christian Gehman (1797-1789) of Brecknock Twp., Berks Co. who was born about 1735? Or was he a son of Benedict Gehman (1712-____) who was in Lehigh Co., PA?
