I am from the Pierre line also. Pierre to Jean B to Jean B to Paul to Paul to Joseph to Wm henry to Harry R to me.

I have search the name in census records etc and it seems my Great Grandfather Jospeh spelled it Genereux then somehow the "X" was dropped and then it became Genereau. I believe this happened when he became a US Citizen in MN and maybe his name was spelled wrong and that then became his official papers and name so it went to that spelling. My grandfather, father and myself have only known it as Genereau...I wish it had not ever changed from the original Genereux which is beautiful and I love the meaning of generous rather than general....

I would love to see your Genereux tree and see how far back we link or branch from after Pierre

I have looked on the Drouid records and see many entries that i believe to be my ancestors and would like to know if I send an email to someone with my Genereux line with birth, death, marriage dates and names and places,if they could look up the church records and then translate them for me into English.

I know this is a large task but I do not speak read or right French.

Pierre Genereux died February 27, 1870 and was buried February 29, 1870 in Ste. Ursule, Maskinonge. He was the widower of Judith Pellerin who he married in 1853 after the death of Louise Belanger.

Yes, I heard we changed our name because of some Johnson. That is why some spell it Jenerou. My great grandmother was Minnie Franklin, but her kids were all Jenerous. My Grandfather Frank I Generou was the only one who spelled it with a G. I met Arnie who lived in Manistique, I think on either River Rd or Tobacco Rd. Grandpa's siblings were Charles, William, Florence, two others I can not remember their names. I remember being told Great Grandma Minnie died on Christmas or Christmas eve.

My great grandmother was Rosianne Generou but sometimes spelled Jenerou. She married Ephraim Duhaime in Quebec and moved to Wisconsin and later settled in Detroit, MI. Have you ever heard of her? I was told she had some Indian ancestry in her but would like to find out her siblings, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you ancestors came from Québec Prov. in Canada, the ritht spelling for Generou, etc....is Généreux for roots from Canada, even more for Québec Province.

Maybe to know that will be more helpfull for searching your Généreux Canadian roots!

Hi! I came across your post and it struck as odd that you are looking for the same information that I am. Are you familiar with a Charles Arnie Jenerou born in 1913 to William Jenerou and Edna Arcond (Williams first wife) Second was Permillia Jane Brown. My grandma Hicks remembers Grandma Brown and has also told me that some of the family start their last name with J and some with G. Story has it that they changed their name to hide relations to a Jeremiah Johnson? The mountain man really known as John Johnson AKA John Garrison (Birth name). Are we related and can you help. I understand that Grandma Sharon Hicks(Jenerou) said that we came out of Canada due to some "bad" people and have resided in Manistique Michigan on the upper UP.

My husband's family came to Elzevir Township, Hastings Co., Ontario prior to 1861. His g.g.grandparents were Fabean & Sarah Genereaux who claimed Berthier as there birthplace. They were in their early 30's at this time. Living nearby was Prospere & Therese Genereaux (? a brother) also from Berthier. A number of individuals in this area were from Berthier or other Quebec towns.Would be interested in learning more of this family & of their history.

Looking for info on Albert J. GENEREUX, b. abt 1911. Mother was Nell [GREENFIELD], 1890-1962, who died in Camarillo, Ventura Co, CA. Albert and his mother were living in Los Angeles in 1930; a few years later the mother was committed to Camarillo State Hospital where she remained until her death.

Based on the 1885 marriage of their daughter, Rose Alma, to Henri Ladebauche dit Casavant in Sorel, it appears that you have the correct couple though they were married in 1841, not 1860. I have no other couple in my Genereux database that would fit your criteria as well as this couple does. The eldest daughter and first-born of this couple was named Marie Louise Genereux.

I'm not sure who you are asking the question of. In my records, one son named Paul Emile was born to Napoleon and Fabiola. Paul Emile married Maria Ouellette in Montreal in 1910. They had 2 sons, Marcel and Paul Emile.
I would like to know the names of Napoleon Genereux's parents.

Just to add alittle more confusion....I have relatives in the Michigan area who are polish. Their name was Jeneralski. There are a million and 1 different incorrect versions of this. To simplify things, the -ski was dropped. The name is now Jeneral or General. Due to foreign accents or just ignorance, I have record of my Polish family with the last name Genereux. So just beware. Evangeline T. Robillard, 99, of Victor Street, Woonsocket, died Oct. 20 at the Holiday Retirement Home in Manville.

Born in St. Emile de L'Ergine, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late Alexandre and Marie (Genereux) Robillard, she had lived in Woonsocket since 1918 and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Woonsocket. She worked for the former French Worsted Company of Woonsocket for 30 years before retiring in 1974. She leaves a daughter, Elizabeth D. Cole of Woonsocket; a sister Rebecca "Rachel" Frayne; a grandson Steven R. Cole; and a niece.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9 a.m. from The Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may visit with the family before Mass from 9-10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, Mass.

I am looking for the parental information for a Prosper Genereux who was born about 1844 in the Berthier Quebec area. Sometime in the 1860 he migrated to Hastings County Ontario. By 1871 he had married a Elizabeth Deslits.

Also in Hastings County where Fabien and Sarah Genereux (later became Genereaux, Prosper and Theresa Genereux(the also had a son named Prosper but not the same one) and Stanislas and Claire Genereux. These three brothers were sons of Jean Baptiste Genereux and Marie Cote. I have not been able to find a accurate link between him and these families.

I have information on the other 3 families but I don't have the parental information for Prosper Genereux married to Elizabeth Deslits. This is probably a very common name as there were 3 in Hastings County, any help would be very appreciated.
