Jim, you made a post back in 2008 about Wm Gensler and in the posting, you listed your line through Robert and Lucinda Cooper Gensler. I am a descendant of William (with wife Mary Warden), thru Isaac, then Thomas Grant Gensler, then Doris Gensler (my grandmother.)

I have some questions about a couple of people in the Robert line. Hopefully you can help me out. Thru my research, I had ended up with a woman named Loula E. Gensler and a woman named Emma Gensler. I finally decided that they were the same person, but I would like your input. I came up with the name Loula from census records that have her as the dau of Robert and Lucinda. She is referred to Emma Dean in the obits of her brothers. Then I have a Lou Emma Gensler marrying Lawrence Alexander. Emma Alexander is found in the 1930 census living with my great-grandmother and listed as a cousin. This great-grandmother was previously married to Thomas Grant Gensler. Tom would have been a cousin to Robert’s children. Is her name Loula Emma Gensler? Did she first marry Lawrence Alexander and later marry a man last name of Dean? Do you know when/where she died? I haven’t been able to find that out.

The other mystery I have is with Robert’s son, Thomas. I have him being born in July 1896. The SSI database shows a death date of Sept 20, 1976, but I have not found an obit for him in the Boonville paper or the California, Mo paper. I even checked the Jefferson City paper and did not find anything there. I do not find him listed in any of the Cooper County cemeteries on the Cooper Co site. Do you know anything about him?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Mae Bruce
mvb098 @ hotmail.com

Hi, my great-great grandfather is William P. Gensler, my great-grandfather is William C. Gensler and my grandfather is Stanley W. Gensler. I am just looking to go back farther to find where my relatives came from prior to the U.S. I believe it is southern Germany. Also, my family seems to be mostly Protestant, but I have run into people who say that "Gensler" is a Jewish surname. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for information about Thomas Gensler, b July 1896 in Mo (probably Cooper Co) and, according to the SSI database, died 20 Sept 1976. He is the son of Robert Gensler and Lucinda Cooper. I have looked for an obit for Thomas, but can not find one. Does anyone know if this is his real date of death? I assume that he lived most of his life in the Cooper County area, but do not know for sure. I do not find him in any of the Cooper Co cemetery listings.

Does anyone have any information on Thomas?

Thanks.

Mae Bruce

He is also a first cousin to my great-grandmother Virginia Leona Burrell (who was married to Thomas Grant Gensler.) So we are kin from two sides of the family. Burl’s parents were Joseph Gensler and Alice Ann Burrell. I have info on both the Genslers and the Burrells.

Mae Bruce
Rev. Garrett F. Genszler

Hi. Would your grandfather happen to be the Rev. Garrett F. Genszler that married Nora Christine Prigge from Goodhue, Minnesota? Nora's parents, Hein Prigge and Anna Marie Dahling, are buried in Goodhue. I believe Anna died when living with relatives in Holland, Michigan. I have read a short genealogy published by Nora's brother, Arthur Claus Prigge, back in 1967. I have been trying for years to find what happened to this family since then. I have mostly come up empty and would love to hear from you. I'd be surprised if there were more than one Rev. Garrett Genszler. If interested, you can read about the Dahling family at http://www.minnesotacousins.com/. My GEDCOM contains an extensive ancestry for the Dahlings.

Henry (Heinrich) Gensler, was my gggrandmother's brother. She was Krona Gensler, married to Franz Wehner. They arrived in NY on 12 Aug 1861, with their destination being MI. Heinrich and Krona as arrived with a brother Ludwig aged 22, and Johann aged 24. Heinrich was 19 at the time. They are all listed under Gensler although Krona and Franz Wehner had been married and had two small boys, August and Gotthardt. They previously lived in the town of Oberfeld, Hesse. I am pretty sure they were related to the Gensler's already in the area, but I am having a hard time finding out the exact relationship. B. Kohler
