I have a family tree in which Charles Germain (who served under General Putnam in the Revolution) and his brothers John & Sylvanus were Huguenots who settled on Long Island. Probably not the same guy.

Edward Bennett Germain was my great uncle as well. His sister was my grandmother, Annie Elizabeth Germain.

I am trying to track the Gemain and Craig ancestry but I cannot get back beyond Rollin Germain or even Bennette Craig. have you had any luck?

Jane,

I grew up with wonderful stories of Edward Germain and his son Ed.
My Dad, Harry Abbott lived directly behind there Nottingham Home. My Dads home was 222 Middlesex. My Dad is still alive and we often discuss the wonderful childhood he shared with Ed. The father was president of Dunlop and often brought home the worlds best tennis champs of the day and the kids would play them on the courts. I have my own wonderful story of Ed when I was visiting in S. Miami in the 1970's.

I have ancestors from Escanaba, originally from Switzerland, named Jermann/Jerman/Germann/Germaine. Maria Jermann immigrated in about 1850 with her parents and siblings and eventually married a Hamacher. Ben Germaine in Escanaba was also a relative.

Does this fit in?

I simply didn't want others to get the impression attachments "can't be done" on the boards. Attachments are not allowed on the RootsWeb mailing lists but the boards do not have that same limitation.

My great-uncle was Edward B Germain, who married Bennette Craig of Port Arthur Texas. EBG was born in 1890 and "disappeared" in June, 1959. His car was found in the Erie Barge Canal 5 years later. Our family suspected a coverup. EBG was a prominent citizen. I am researching this mystery. Jane

STILL SEARCHING AND STILL FINDING ABOUT MY FAMILY.
BUT I'M STILL STUCK WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MY GGRANDMOTHER LILLIAN K. BASSETT AND HER FAMILY. SHE MARRIED MY GGRANDFATHER WILLIAM ROLAND GERMAIN. HIS PARENTS WERE REV. RUEBEN J. AND MARY GERMAIN ;WHOM MARRIED IN NEW YORK, LIVED IN BURLINGTON, NEW JERSEY.
THEIR SON WILLIAM ROLAND MARRIED LILLIAN BASSETT IN ILLINOIS IN 1874. MY GRANDMOTHER EVELYN ELSIE WAS THEIR DAUGHTER.
FINDING FAMILY HAS SPARKED SOME INTEREST WITH MY OLDEST BROTHER BILL.
STILL WITH MY MOTHER DYING LAST DECEMBER HAS ALMOST COMPLETELY CLOSED THE DOOR , SINCE SHE WAS MY ONLY LINK.

Looking for information on a Frederick Germain who married Rose whose maiden name might be Mangold born about 1847 in Saxony, Germany. Frederick and Rose had the following known children: Bertha born c.a. 1870 and married Joseph Blumberger.
Francis who married Edward Forant and Edgar or Edward.

Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Any info on the German's or Germain's families who lived in Ferrisburg, VT ca 1865 and Brandon VT ca 1880-1920 will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to make a link between the families of Isaac Marsette (married to Mary LaQuire), Joseph Germain (married to Nettie) and Frank LaQuire (married to Mary Marsette).

All these people are buried in the Brandon Cemetery, VT (St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery).

Thanks for your help, it’s very much appreciated, I have come across the information you have and am now stuck, i know he fathered children in Kent well after 1839 but have no record of him on any census form, I have found a death certificate but am not sure if it’s for him (still unsure as to his place of birth) or where he was living between 1831 and 1857.

Looking for any information on Joseph Henry Germain (b.1797c - d.1857 in kent) married to Sarah Ann Morling (b.1811 d.1880 in kent). they lived in the Aylesford area of kent and recording in the Cliffe on hoo area too.
I am unable to find any birth record for him and am usure if he was from this country, He is not recorded on any cenus form??
Joseph and Sarah had 8 children Including Mary ann germain (1839-1880 my direct link).

I have now found out that he was steward to Lord Aylmer and lived in Quebec Canada for a few years between 1830 - 1832. any information would be great.

Hi Erika,
Thankyou for contacting me and I only know that hes buried where he is because I have have been to his grave but i don`t have the names of my grandparents or his obit. I could possibly check the records of the town where we were living at the time he died. I was only six yrs old when he died so have very little memory of him and his side of the family abandoned us after that with the exception of one aunt.

My name is LaurieAnn Germain, the daughter of the late Louis Victor Germain and Cynthia Jean (Ledoux) Germain. My dad was born in Guildhall, Vt and my mom was born in Claremont, NH, I am looking for info pertaining to my dad. I was born in Littleton, NH.I have three siblings. He passed away when I was a small child(8-19-1966) and I would like to get some family history so that I may pass it onto my kids and grandkids and also because I grew up not knowing anything about his side of the family. He is buried in Lancaster,NH on the opposite side of his parents. If anyone out there recognizes my parents names please contact me via this email address; MysticDove@hotmail.com. He has two sisters by the names of Emily and Doria and four other siblings that I know of but don't know their names. I have a Reuben J Germain born 1809 married to Henrietta ?born in 1808 living in Burlington NewJersey in the 1850 census. Reuben is a Minister.
His parents are James Germain born 1783 Plymouth New York in 1783 and Sally ?
In 1880 census Reuben is living in Buffalo, erie NY
James died in 1865 and Sally is living with her son and wife.

Searching for any information on James Germain born in Plymouth Chenango County in 1783.
He married Sally Parks in 1805
James died in Buffalo Erie Co NY October 2, 1865.
They had a son Reuben who was a Minister in Buffalo NY
with whom I think they resided.
I think they had other children besides Reuben.

Mother in law's name was Pauline Germain. Birth date Aug. 18, 1918. Married Royal Sauvé in Verdun. Her father Noe Germain remarried. His second wife was Alexina Deslauriers. Can't find marriage certificate for them.

I am looking for information on a Noe Paul Germain. He was a Monreal policeman. He may have lived in Verdun, quebec. He married twice. I do not know anything of the first wife other than she gave birth to my mother in law. His second wife was Alexina Deslauriers with whom he had 4 children. He died in 1928 in Verdun. My Germain girls names are Elizabeth who married my great grandfather Firmin/Freeman Brazeau and Angelique who married Freeman's brother Narcisse/Nelson. Both marriages were in 1850 in Buffalo. Both couples came to Michigan. In the 1850 US Census for New York, Buffalo, is Found Edward (Garnin) I am convinced that this is a mispelling as the wife and other children are the same as what I have for Germain. Hi:

The family appears on both the 1841 English census, and the 1851 census, in Kent England. Joseph is missing in 1841.
Their daughter Margaret was born in Canada, according to the 1851 census. I will look for her birth record.

You're mistaken about not being able to include attachments on this *board*. Small GEDCOM's and graphics (such as the scan of a death certificate) can be attached - the option to "Attach a file" is just above the Post button on the post screen.

Try applying for his death certificate from the state vital records bureau in the state where he died. Also apply for his birth certificate/record from the state of his birth. Contact the newspaper in the town where he was living at the time of his death or possibly in his home town for an obituary.

Also look into reading a book about beginning genealogy.

What have you done to find information on him? Have you gotten a copy of his obituary (which usually names siblings)? Since he is buried with his parents, I'm presuming you know their names. Have you looked for them on a census? Have you obtained copies of either his birth or death certificates? Both of those should contain his mother's maiden name.

Although I have no information on him, just wanted to point out some "first steps" you can take to learn more.
