Looking for Wohnsgehaig, Germany contact

I am looking for anyone who can give me a german contact for Wohnsgehaig, Germany. My grandmother was born there as her father and grandfather. I will be visiting in December (a lifelong dream) But, before I go I'd like to find out some of my great grandparents history. My great grandfather was George Schmitt (b. 18710 who married Kunigunda Neuner(b. 1872).
I'd love to contact anyone in Germany who can help me??

My mother's maiden name was German- she was born in Reading Pa. her fathers name was George German mothers name was Carrie Moyer. they moved to Chicago some time after 1912 she had two sisters one the oldest Madiline passed away sometime after 1920 -

The GERMAN family as far as we can go is: James GERMAN [about 1785] who married Elizabeth (Betsey)BROWN. Most if not all of their children were born in New York state. I have just found your message here. I can trace my family tree back to Henry German of Kendal ( alive in 1860)who married Hannah Walton and had one daughter Jane( 1841)Henry was a relative of Edward German as my mother told me but not sure how!

I am researching the Jermyn family of Biddulph twp, Ontario and they had relatives in Toronto. For some reason, the name is often spelt German in Toronto and Jermyn in the country. sometimes it is Germyn as well. The Jermyn were Protestant from Co. Cork Ireland. Have you tried searching your Mary under that spelling. Birth registration for Ontario are in Ancestry, so you might be lucky.

Ashel Morris was younger brother to my GGGGrandfather Hiram GERMAN. Their father's name is James and mother's name is Betsy Brown. The death records of my GERMAN ancestors indicated that they were from somewhere in New York and your newspaper article identified the town in which they may have lived. We need to search Montgomery County, NY to find out if other siblings were born there, and we need to inquire if James GERMAN's father lived with or near the same area. If so, we need to find out who he is and more detail background information.

barbara: Did you ever get the photo? I have visited the graveyard many times and have been to one of the two sites; there is a dispute about which one is that of the actual massacre. Are you in contact with Mrs. Arlene Jauken, of Peru Nebraska? She is also a descendant of one of the girls, a niece or grandniece of Katherine or Sophie.

I am seeking information on the German Family of Baltimore, MD. The earliest member is Philip German (1748-7/11/1814) married to Catherine (died aft 1839). He had at least 3 children: Philip (bef 1797-bef 1837), Frederick (bef 1797 - bef 1837) and Mary Magdalina (c1781-aft 1837).
Son Philip had a son William P. [Philip?] German.
Son Frederick married Ann and had a son Michael Philip German (1813-1885). Fred's widow married Philip Zimmerman by 1837.
Daughter Mary married first Philip Ayrenberg on 2/11/1799. Married second William Leonard Pouder in 1807. May have had 7 children by the second marriage.
My line descends through Michael Philip German. Any information or descendents of these Germans will be greatly appreciated.

We have had a couple of successes tying Americans to English families and even surprised a fellow in London by showing his ancestors were likely from a family in Devon. Have you researched any of the research books for the index of persons in each state from 1790 onwards?

They did make them for several of the census, up until abt. 1880 when they went to soundex codes. I have researched many for my knowledge. Many libraries have the index books.

The Joshua GERMAN you mention as born 1812 Muskingum Co, Ohio reported he was born 1812 MD throughout my research of him.

Documentation does not come, strictly on the internet for knowledge. I have been to many States and Counties, back when research was dificult, not easy.

So where was Moses GERMAN/JARMEN in 1800 and 1810 of this USA?

I do not find Moses GERMAN/GARMAIN,JERMEN,in Muskingum Co, OH until the 1820 Census, as Moses GARMAIN.

Jonathan GERMAN married Oct. 6, 1836, Muskingum Co. OHIO, Elizabeth YELEY. They were still in Muskingum Co, OHIO in 1850 Census.

Then moved to Clark County, Illinois, before they imigrated to the Southwest corner of Missouri.Died there. Buried in Jasper County, MO.

DOOLING surname is part of the WILCOX family names of mine.

Yes, I already had their records of Muskingum Co, OHio. Just had a different Maiden Name for Susannah.

Due to the age of Susannah at the marriage,(23)
Could she have been married before?

Erastus did get two marriage licenses in Clark Co, IL. Lived in Barry Co., MO in 1870, before the second marriage at a later date.

His Father was Jonathan GERMAN,
His Mother, Elizabeth YELEY, dau. of Charles YELEY and Airy LOWERY.

Both of the above couples were married in Muskingum Co. OH.

Had contact with one of the children's family.

Anna MUSGROVE GERMAN, dau of W. A. MUSGROVE and Sarah NEWLAND, was born July 21, 1840 Ohio, deceased Oct. 2, 1914, Camden County, MO.
Buried Oct. 4, 1914, Borunston, MO. She was a widow. Source: MO. Death certificate

Geo. Washington and Anna GERMAN's son Charley Henry was born April 17, 1883 Died Aug. 6, 1935

My Father (Leonard German 17/11/44) was born in Eldon Lane, County Durham and i think my Grandad (William German) was born in Kelti or Kelty near Edinbrough in Scotland. Grandad died in 1973 when i was to young to find out more. I would be interested to here from anyone with any links.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Merlin German, 22 of Manhattan, N.Y., died April 11 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, from wounds he suffered while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq, on Feb. 22, 2005. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif., while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. German's parent unit was the 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif. He was medically retired Sept. 28, 2007, as a result of his injuries.

Hi Guys,

Im trying to track down my father whose name is Leslie German. He was not born with GERMAN as his last name he was adopted in. I have no idea what his date of birth is, no idea of his parents names as my mum does not know. He possibly has a daughter that was born a few years before me. I was born in 1983.

Pretty much the only information I have is:
Name: Leslie Llewelyn German
Married: Kerry Paddon-Jones
Son: Nicholas German

Anyone have any idea where I should start? Maybe some of you have some information on the Germans of Australia already. Any help would be awesome.

Are you telling me that Sharley German is related to you? I'm not sure Charlotte German and Sharley German are the same person. Sharley German was born in Santa Clara County, but German was her fourth husband's name and they weren't from India.

hi, My German family members lived in Brooklyn, New York. They arrived in the 1850's from Prussia. My great-great grandfather, Louis St. Germain, changed the family name to German after emigrating from Prussia. He felt that German sounded less foreign. My great-grandmother, Laura German, was born in Germany, but her younger brother, Charles German, was born in New York.

No I don't have one either. A researcher back there tells me the 1810 census for Ohio was destroyed by fire. And the immigration for Ohio began about 1806 after the indian situation was taken care of. I wish we had the 1810 census, It would probably help a lot.

I have always believed Benjamin Jarmen was his father due to the relationship with the Rutledges. Since Moses and Benjamin both owned land next to one another in 1806 and sold to the sam man, they must be related somehow.

No I show Susannah Dean as being Dean...
Rev.Richard Lewis Register of First Baptist Church in Baltimore, on page 61 lists Moses German and Susannah Dean married 10 Nov 1791.
I can e mail a copy of this page.
Also I show Susannah' father as Joshua Dean b.28 Feb 1745
and mother as Susannah Lovell b abt 1745.
Both Moses and Susannah are buried in Ashbury Cemetery in Hopewell township, Muskingham county, Ohio
