GERONIMO IS CONVERTED
Aged Indian Warrior Has Become a Methodist
Lawton: Chief of the apaches, Geronimo, has become a Christian. A large tabernacle has been erected in a large tent upon Medicine Creek, near Lawton, in which is being carried on a revival of the various tribes of Indians.
Geronimo, old, bent and broken from his tolls of many chases, and weighted down by his many warlike deeds, and now imprisoned within the soldier's reserve, was present and listened to the sermons which are preached by a white minister and interpreted by one of the tribe. They told how an Indian could receive Christ as his saviour and pass into the real "happy hunting grounds." An invitation was then extended to have all come forward and acknowledge their religion. Geronimo, with a number of his tribe, came forward and told of their wrongdoings. They were then taken to Medicine Creek and baptized. And now Geronimo, "the warrior terribe," has professed himself a Methodist.
